My mate has a core 2 duo and a single 8800gtx water cooled system.
He gets 400fps on the counter strike source stress test.
Sadly I fail to see any benefits from using a quad core system as hardly any games out there benefit from the extra 2 cores. Same with the 2 graphic cards...even if they do use the 2nd graphic card the game will only use a little bit of it.
pointless imo.

Still like my 1950 Pro. Haven't seen the need to get anything else for now. I'm not a big gamer but like the occasional shoot 'em up.

I have a Abit AT8 32X with a 1900 Crossfire card and a X1900 XT, Vista HP 64. I can not say I have used it much as it is in the Bedroom the two I use right now are both Crossfire capable but are currently running a single card. If I were to get some cash. I'd like to buy a 3870 X2 for my main rig, put my 3870 in the other rig and add a 3850 in Crossfire.
I have MSI K9A2 in CF and in Platinum and both are Vista 64. COD 4 too.

Nope- still only a 7900GTX.. will probably wait a few cycles, then get another SINGLE top of the line card that is one generation behind or close to it so I don't have to pay 600 bucks for it, but I still get a hell of an improvement in performance for my $$..
That time usually comes about the same time a new mobo/ram/cpu are in the same type of situation.

I have the 7950 GX2, from nVidia, but, I wish I would have waited a bit longer before purchasing this one. I would have gone with the 8800, I think. The 3d graphics scores are off the charts with the GX2, but, the 2d and low power 3d graphics are sub-standard. (Using 3d Mark Pro 2006)

broke
I want to get 2 GPU's, however sadly I cannot afford it. Maybe I will start a telethon to raise money for the "Buy me a SLI setup" fund.
