Which CPU are you most anticipating?
Both Intel and AMD should be bringing new processors to retail soon, which are you most likely to buy?

None of them actually.
We already know about all there is to know about Penryn; it will be a nice chip, it will increase margins for Intel at the worst possible time for AMD too. And I was really looking forward to Phenom, but atm I'm very skeptical about it (read: praying for a surprise).

I was most anticipating the actual poll (came back twice looking for it stu P )
seriously though, I'm looking forward to whatever intel are gonna throw us next
they have the jump on amd big style atm, you know just when you thought the c2d's were awesome chips for the money suddenly you could pick up twice the cores for just a few quid more, I can't see how amd can respond to that straight way at all

None of them, I'm happy with my current setup. I figure an 8-core cpu for about $200 would be enough to convince me to upgrade.

The Quads are also of the "Core 2" design, with some glue in between.
I expect a Phenom x4 some time next year, but not too early. Having finally gotten my hands on a good 939 board I have some overclocking to do, and I might even buy some more DDR RAM.

Waiting for the Phenom X3 (or X4) depending on what I can afford. I like what they have done and believe that things should be done to make Computers more efficient during idle times. I don't know about you but most of the time my computer is not crunching massive amounts of numbers and heck with the addition of a more dynamic power saving feature this could save money even when the computer is doing something.
And as far as I can tell the Phenom is likely not going to be that much slower if at all than the Penryn.

It's quite easy for me. I'm waiting for the Phenom X4, mainly because I will start off by getting an AM2+ motherboard with PCI-E, move my Athlon X2 over to that, then get an AM2+ Phenom X4 when the price is right.. unless they release the AM3 CPU's before that time comes... then upgrade the motherboard to AM3.
I can rarely afford to buy all new stuff at once so this is the easiest way for me to make the most out of each component. And, I really don't need the top performing cpu's. I'm perfectly happy with the 5200+ I have now so it'll last a bit.

AMD Slipped up when they bought ATI, they forgot they made CPUs as well so all the new ones that they desperately tried to keep their market share with were rendered completely obsolete when Intel's minimum buck for maximum bang C2Ds came in.
I do seriously hope AMD can make the new Phenom work though, intel will have to keep the prices down then... that's the only reason lol, i still voted intel... ftw

The company has been restructuring for a quite a few months because they bought ATI. Working at ATI or AMD during that time was probably a pain as it should have been. It was likely one of the reasons products were delayed as they both had to change their game plan and work on the new plan for the future called Fusion. Of course this would cause chaos for a while. Corperate restructuring always causes short term chaos, but we need to look in to the long term. Is it going to eventually cause results.
Anyways a Phenom Processor should more than meet my needs and we NEED AMD/ATI and I believe in their future outlook so they are getting my money.

Phenom X4 is the name that AMD is giving to it's desktop Barcelona based processor. Otherwise you can think of it as an Athlon 64 X4. Although core for core it is faster than the Athlon 64 because of it's reworked architecture.
Anyways the Phenom X4 is basically an AMD processor with 4 cores that is socket compatible with the AM2 socket but designed for AM2+. AM2+ will give the benifits of better power management, HT3, PCI-Express 2, etc..
