What are your values?

Well alot of people have been annoying me about my values so I was wondering, what are your everday values?

Money?

Peace and love?

Family?

etc....

Life- except in extreme circumstances, preserving life is most important of all.

LIberty- the right to improve my human condition, work where I want, choose a career and the right not to choose...if I choose so.. Goes along with Free Will.

Pursuit of Happiness- Self explainatory really, the right to make myself happy as long as no one gets hurt.

Common Good - giving back to my community, improving the human condtion.

Justice - Treating others fairly and expecting that in return (good Karma)

Diversity - Everyone, even cultures of one person, be recognized and given due respect as individuals while allowing them express their ethinicity, culture, gender, race, its a whole "plurist" society thing.

Truth - We can demand and recieve the truth from our own governments or ruling authority, its really fundamental, but also applys to my life, we must protect the truth as well. I believe no matter who is in charge of the government, we are ultimately in control, as private citizens we have the right to the truth.

Family: If I am not a member of any one family but of all families of man, then I have a duty and an obligation not to betray my brothers and sisters.

Wisdom Somebody out there knows a great deal more about life than I ever will and when I have the oppurtunity to learn, to just keep my mouth shut and absorb it.

Family first and foremost. Honesty, respect, a bit of honor (whatever that is). I work on self respect, I think its important, but a tricky one as one can get a bit headstrong, which leads to blindness. I try to be a good role model for my children, and I respect and honor my wedding vows (something that tends to take a back seat in todays society).

Over all, I would say my values are old fashioned. I hate to say biblical, as I'm very scientific, but I'm sure its structured similarly. I think an important part of being a good person is progression in ones life and mind. I try not to get comfortable, I think it leads to lazyness. I try to expand my mind constantly, though it can be hard when it seems you spend so much time just paying the bills. If I can read a good book now and then and maybe compose a thought before bed, I think that can often be enough.

My latest opus... trying not to take myself so damn seriously. I didnt used to (before adulthood reared it head), but I've found myself too focused on the things that dont matter as much, which affects the things that do (you know, like my golf game, jk). This all has been more of a task than I thought, but I'll get there some day. If not, it might kill me before time does...

I think that's what's happening to me right now... I've become too comfortable with certain things in my life and so haven't had much zeal to change the bad things or improve the good things. Gotta work on that

Another thing I've got to really work on. I realised that laughing at your shortcomings and such helps at loosening up

Everyone's values tend to be completely individualistic (unless of course they belong to a religious group where you aretold what your values should be!!) one man's sense of honour may be very different from the next man's and yet both consider themselves honorable.

my values are based on my childhood experiences and years exposed to evangelical christian doctrine, (born again) and my own values I learned from others...
and hard knocks as well...
reminds me of the song from Annie...
its a hard knock life for us..
