".... but has said it would allow those who have "clearly overcome" homosexual tendencies to start the process of becoming a priest."
"...made a distinction between deep-seated homosexual tendencies and what it called "the expression of a transitory problem."
"The Church, while profoundly respecting the persons in question, cannot admit to the Seminary and to Holy Orders those who practice homosexuality, present deeply rooted homosexual tendencies or support the so-called gay culture," the document said."
Woaaahh!
Over-come homosexual tendencies? Transitory problem? So-called gay culture?!?
Jesus H (pun intended). These guys must be packing some big kahunahs to put out a statement like that. I tell you, the Protestants must be laughing their assess off right now.

And they talk as if they personally heard him say so too. That's when you back away from them... slowly.. as sudden movement around these people can get you killed.

You know, Atheism does have it's benifits (not to mention it's probably the easiest non-belief system to convert to). For one, since you don't believe there is a higher power, and that you won't have to atone for your sins when you die, you could get away guilt free with just about anything as long as it's legal under the law (like, ohh, say, commiting adultery ).

Don't go putting ideas into Sandok's head, Tip. You know the youth of today are very impressionable

Bah, drakon if you'd be around more in the religious threads, you'd already know my point of views
And I'm not young! I don't think I am....
Anyways, I have nothign against religion but for me, well I'm not gonna say anything to be flamed at.
Back on subject, the thing I don't get is that homos are considered to be EVIL by the church, so how can they become priests? They will still be gay... :head:

Well, I think people are still young till they turn 21-23. The old want to stay young and the young want to grow old. Chances are that what ever you percieve yourself you ar ethe opposite as is true with most people. Same goes with maturity. If you go around telling people they are immature or that you are mature then chances are you are not (not directing this towards Sandok, just people in general).

Personally I prefer to stay out of the religious thread, mainly to avoid the dumb bickering over nothing. All it really boils down to is one person's opinions vs another's...

I really believe the Catholic Church is manuevering to protect themselves from further litigation from victims of Pedophile and Gay priests. The church is no longer protecting or hiding sexually active priests regardless of homo or hetero sexual tendencies.. What ever a priests attempts to put his dick into will get him in trouble....

They might consider female priests to avoid such situations.

Now you know why I quoted, ".... but has said it would allow those who have "clearly overcome" homosexual tendencies to start the process of becoming a priest." from that article. Is homosexuality a disease? Is it behavioural? Is it genetic? Given those 3 questions how can anyone, without a doubt, declare someone "cured of homosexual tendencies"? How would you arrive at that conclusion? If they view it as a disease, how do you test that they are cured? The more you think about it, the more absurd it becomes.
What really blew me away was at how blind, and very ignorant the 2nd quote was, "...made a distinction between deep-seated homosexual tendencies and what it called "the expression of a transitory problem." How can they, with a straight face, say that homosexuality is transitory? What book have these people been reading, no preaching from for the last 2 thousand plus years? How can they disregard human history so blatantly? Homosexuality is certainly not temporary, or short lived. History proves as much. 'Sides, as the song says, "... the Bible tells me so." And just how old is that book again?
