Stranger than fiction...
I was curious about the new Richard Clarke book, Scorpion's Gate. I have not read it, but I was intrigued by an interview with the author, it was sobering to see that a respected suspense novelist, and former cabinet member of the White House was absolutely accurate about the middle east. The following ideas in the book are more accurate than can be imagined.
1. IRAN has accomplished all the objectives that were set in the 7 year war with IRAQ.
Sadaam is gone, the country has a Shite majoring in power again, and 5th column efforts
to undermine power in IRAQ's new government may be working.
2. Saudia Arabia is do for a revolution, in part because China's need for oil increases expo-
dentiolly every year, therefore Asian influence in middleeast affairs will increase as well.
3. Syria (as I said three years ago) has emerged as an adversary power in the same region
and responsible for funding and training terrorists, as well as absorbing IRAQ's former
arsenal of weapons, including ballistic missiles.
4. America has been so preoccupied with fighting terrorism and maintaining our presence in the middle east that we will be unable to answer an geo-political threats in the future without
cutting our servces domestically or raising taxes.
5. Europe will become weaker as India and China emerge as fantastic economic powers.
6. Alternative sources of energy will become more economically viable as the dependence and
consumption of fossil fuels by other nations further drains what resources are left.
7. An Orwellian effort to document all people in America and process them into data-bases and issue identification badges and other forms of ID, will create a massive infrastructure and
centralize power .
8. Muslims from former partner nations and occupied IRAQ will form a new Jihad and attack
western interests worldwide through a sophisticated network of support.
9. Natural and manmade disasters will further weaken the U.S. ability to respond to
emergencies at home and abroad, world opinion will be greatly diminished.
10. A false peace will exist in the middle east for at least ten years before a complete geo-
politidcal polarization occurs and we are at odds with our former partners.
This I have know for some time and watch patiently to see if I have been proven wrong.
