I don't think anyone should be talking shit about the French military. Look at how the Americans are doing in Iraq and Afghanistan and how stretched out the entire military is. The Northern Alliance basically fought the entire ground war and we've got guys systematically torturing people in Iraq. From what I've read the French have an advanced military and well trained soldiers. Just because the Nazis invaded in WWII doesn't mean they can't defend themselves. Do people think that Russia and all the other countries that got invaded are weaklings too?

Depends on who pov ur lookin through. Liberal media, we are doing bad. Most soldiers stand points, we are kicking their ass. I've got quite a few friends and my brother was over there. All agree that we are not really doin that shabby and there isn't much to do about roadside bombs and suicide bombers.

And I think the only reason you may even know about the GIGN is from the the very first CS....hmmm maybe?



I think every special forces and black ops team (who are allied with Israel) should train there for 6 month periods participating in everythign their SF does. Israel has the best covert ops teams because they always have something to do, their job never lets up and every able man must serve in the millitary of the country. SAS are good but not as good as what Israel has. GIGN may fit somewhere in there but I don't really want to find French news, may get my hands dirty in the process.


Well, considering we don't lose that much and France has pretty much lost almost every single war and most battles (excluding Napoleon's time) they created their own self-image. They curse us when they can get a chance then when they get their asses handed to them they suddenly love us. Its very sad how ungrateful some of the country is. Without us, I'm sure France would be part of Germany right now.



Edit: Russia did do something though, they beat the living crap out of Germany. Britian did also. What did France do? pretty much nothing but become a playground. They should try to be like Japan and invest all their money in something productive (only thing I can think of in France is tourism) and not waste any money on a standing army. Its like adding things on to a broken toy, you could add arms, legs, and clothes but it still does not change the fact it is broken and not worth shit.

Israel is extremely good at just about anything it does.

I didn't mean that the US soldier isn't well trained, I think they're great. I just think the whole plan wasn't very good to begin with and there wasn't enough people for an occupation and a lot of times ill-equipped. Look at how many soldiers Great Britain had in Northern Ireland and how many people Israel had in Gaza. I think the ratio there was 4 soldiers to one person. You can't replace people with technology. Sure, you can blast the hell out of someone with it, but you can't rebuild a country or enforce any kind of law.

I don't think it was as bad as people made it seem to be. I think it was just about the same this time as in DS with former Bush. The only thing is Americans have gotten considerably more whiny and the media has more power while becoming more liberal.


Edit: I just read the article right now and they stormed a private ship (probably with all their forces). Looks like those troops are really bored out of their mind. Any other articles conscerning French Millitary? I wonder when they have fought for humanity as a whole and not to preserve themselves. Hmmm.

I do agree that we sohuld have been able to declare war on the fact that Sadam has commited a large Genocide on the Kurds to gain more support, but I think there were other factors that the US gov new about that was not released or even thought of by the nation as a whole. Blame has gotta be put somewhere so might as well blame the republicans, seemed to have worked before. What I hated was waking up and flipping the channel to ABC (I hate ABC) and them telling the american people how much of a complete disaster the war effort was. I remember also when one of their news coorespondents was airing false documents in order to hurt president Bush in the election.


But back to what I was sayin before. If France wants to have an Amry, they better not dick around anymore and defend more than just their country.

They've got a pretty decent one. They really built a nice one after WWII and during the Cold War. I'm sure they didn't take getting invaded twice lightly. :-)

Have you ever been in the millitary?

Ever done any millitary training?

How many people do you know that are actually in the millitary?

How many people do you know that have actually seen combat?

Have you ever seen your best friend die right next you in Battle outside of a videogame?

Have you ever seen anyone die for that matter?





Though I can't say I have I don't act like the millitary is overated and I don't act like its easy shit.

At 16 I was training for SF, 17 I was ready for Rangers and met min requirements for SF. I have trained with Ex-SF, Ex-Infantry, Ex-Marine, Ex-Force Recon, Ex-Scout Sniper, and current soldiers of the US army and a SWAT officer also.

Even then I know I don't know shit about the millitary. Because I haven't been there, I haven't done it.


So when did you decide the right that you knew how soldiers felt?

If its so easy, go join SF right now. Go join SEALS. Go join Recon.


The men and women who defend our country deserve more than our respect but that is the least you can do for them. When you call Our army overrated you disrespect all those men and women who figh or have fought for our country.

The reason I believe the French millitary is a joke? because of their countries policies not their Army itself. I respect any man or woman who serves their country, and you should also.

Though my training was not anywhere near as hard as the millitary (unfortunately) I could only expect that it is hard than anything anyone could ever experience in their life.

Fact: the US millitary is the #1 fighting force in the entire world.

I think were being a little harsh on the French.
They had a strong underground resistance during WWII and are very effective when fighting terrorism apparently.
The French are hosts not soldiers by nature, which is why they host an invasion so well.

Stop listening to Foxnews... intelligence circles in the US *know* that France is _the_ world leader in anti-terrorist counter intellignece, and treats the arabic-fundamentalist threat very seriously. They experienced this in Algeria years before anyone else and have much more experience in this regard.

In a similar way to Indochina / Vietnam, France was there first and suffered greviously...but the US didn't learn from their example. Now the US is knee-deep in Iraq similarly to the way France was stuck in Algeria years before.

For a nation of 60million people, with an economy less than that of California, France's modern army is very capable. No one can compete with the US, and the US has the right to be proud of its armed forces.
