What "excuse" does religion (Not the Catholic or any other church, but religion or Christianity itself) give in the event of pedophilia? And, how does religion, in America, oppress any of it's citizenry?
Also, if religion *lets* things like this happen, by the same logic, don't all this forums posters *let* it happen, and society *lets* it happen, too, right?

science is not always based on fact & is not always true. scientific THEORIES are changed/proven/disproven constantly. it is in a constant state of flux. if you knew anything about science you would know this.
you would also know that there has been plenty of scientific fraud commited over the centuries.

Catholicism - The most corrupt religion on earth, created by some guy who wanted lots o' money. Confessions - started so that people would pay the church to be freed of their sins, so basicly you could kill a guy pay the church a hundred bucks, and hey apparently you did nothing wrong then. Fish fry friday... ring a bell? Well the fisherman weren't getting as much money as the butchers were, so the catholic church says hey, god wants you to eat no meat on friday. But, you can still have fish, so get your fill. Now today, pedophilia in the churches, it just keeps getting better and better!
And for those who say that atheists are narrow minded, well aren't you narrow minded? For not taking a look at the world, and maybe pondering that there isn't a god? That's why I don't like calling people narrow minded when it comes to debates, because sometimes I've never looked at the other side of the spectrum. Oh, and yes i've looked at the other side on this one, and deduced, no there isn't a god. Why do I say that? Well let's see god was first "created" by men who didn't know how this magical water fell out of the sky, we call it rain. Since they couldn't explain it, they just said that it was some sort of magical force causing water to fall. But, as time went on man soon learned that it was the air getting saturated with water and blah blah blah, you don't need the scientific details. But, my point is, as man learns more god's interaction with earth get's smaller and smaller, or so man says. From GOD MAKES EVERYTHING HAPPEN, HE DICTATES EVERYTHING THAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT! To, he won't help children getting raped by religious leaders in his so called house of warship, because we were put on this earth and he gives us rules in a book written by men (strange, rules dictated by men, shouldn't the godly voice call out to us the rules?), and then off we go, we live, kill, rape, steal, die, then he sends some more off to do the same? Well my fingers hurt right now so I'm gonna take a break

i converted from anglican to atheist after life sucked so much i decided screw this, if there is a god he doesn't deserver worshipping with the games he plays with peoples lives

Catholics are a little old fashioned for me, Most Cathoholics I know are very unhappy and get beaten a lot. I don't like the whole Marry thing. She was just a person, thats it. I respect them but being catholic seems more like a chore to me than actually praying and reading the bible (these are considered chores for a lot of people). I was atheist before because I was too damn lazy to go to church after a while. I'm glad I came back, I can say I'm much happier as a Christian that doesn't belong to any Church except the house of God : ).

the christian bible IS NOT COMPLETE

there are sections missing, including the fact that EVE WAS THE SECOND WIFE OF ADAM

i learned this from neon genesis, becoz apparently Anno did alot of research and he has taken stuff from the Babylonian texts as well as many other texts of religious background

Not all of the books people say should be added are truth.

There are some that are based on fact and could have been included. It's actually very interesting how much we refer to is based on these unincluded books. A lot of things we see with angels, imps, and satan are based on these books.

It's not an all or nothing thing here.

And religion ha the same. Except that when we reach a conclusion in science, it's always tangiable proof unlike in any religion on the planet.

Sure it's always changing but we always seek on thing, the ultimate truth. Science is the only answer (for me) cuz it shows me something that I can understand and comprehend. Saying a big white dressed god on some cloud looks after priests who rape kiddies just seems... Wrong?
