off topic- im sick of music/entertainment threads turning into flamezones for rap music. listen to what they have to say rather than incoherrent screaming. ill support what your opinion is on what kanye did, not what rappers are since that is NOT the point of the thread. its really fucking annoying

I agree greatly that not all "rappers" not all that bad. Its just that this Kayne West public made a comment that was not needed while trying to publicly ask for money to help the victims of the Gulf Coast. You cannot blame someone who have given people plenty of warning. Plus the FEMA was on stand-by. But it is the responsiblity of the State Governor to request for out of state help and to active the National Guard. Plus the mayor of New Orleans understood that his town was going to need help, but yet talking at a Starbucks talking how he has everything handled, but yet he did do nothing really expect to bash on Bush.

Give me one song in the 10 most popular rap songs that has nothign to do with being a pimp, hitting women, singing while wearing baggy clothes, being a "gangsta" or any type of degrading of women and I may be happy for a while. O yeah this includes a duet where the girl sings a duet with a rapper tell him how slutty she is and how much of a pimp she needs.
But that was just for you, no this is not supposed to flaming Rap, but I'm still trying to find one popular rapper from now adays that has contributed to society (not basketball...). If you don't think black people should be represented by morons, stop listening and supporting their music, no matter how cool a beat may sound.
Until I am proved otherwise
R. etards
A. ttempting
P. oetry
Its ok to be mad sometimes "pimpsta". Just look at your name sometimes and realize that it embodies the degredation and beating of women. Maybe that will make you feel better.

thx for a well thought out, informative post.
fwiw, the chairman of the black caucus(wished i could remeber his name) gave a very good speech along the same lines as your post. unfortunately, since there was no defamation of anybody, the speech has not been aired since.
sad commentary on our media coverage.
while kayne west is a no- singing idiot, did you guys hear some of the idiocy coming out of jesse jacksons mouth the day this(racial) all started(fri or sat). what a buffoon. his feeble attempt to try & get some political mileage(he is not alone in this by a long shot) was truly pathetic. there was a period were neither me nore my wife could figure out what the hell he was talking about.
the sad fact is, that for the next year or so, every politician & 'group' that possibly can is going to make use of all these peoples suffering in any way they can to further their own careers/agendas.

I wish that someone got that sound clip of Rev. Jesse Jackson, i want to know what he said. but anyways he always says something when ever there is a Republician president during a crisis. He's just mad because he did not become the first black president in 1984. What pisses me off is no matter what Al Sharpton, Rev. Jesse Jackson and other leaders of the black caucus make everything based on race. Hell, if you are against illegal immigration you are a racist, if you believe that O.J. Simpson is gulity you are a racist, if you believe that Hurricane Katrina and every other hurricane from the past 4 years were not President Bush's fault you are a racist. If i blew win the wrong way, i must be a racist!!!!
I was watching the Fox news just before Katrina hit New Orleans the mayor of New Orleans told the media and the world ( at a StarBuck Coffee shop) that he did not need any help and that he has everything under control and when asked if he should open the airport as a shelter he said he did not need to.
Now after Katrina, he is mouthing off about how its the President's fault and where is the help at. HUH???

She still hasn't given the Feds control. Everything the Govt. has in place is under her sole command. Finally she's realized how incompetent she is, and hired Clinton's ex-FEMA cheif to bail her out.
Jesse Jackson, Louis Farrahkan, Al Sharpton, and many of their ilk are all just as racist as any KKK member. They don't burn crosses, but instead organize their sheeple to boycot, march, or use the media and public perception to bully anyone who thinks unlike they do. On the rare occassion any of them actually point out true racism, I usually ignore it, because they are always casting first stones, instead of helping the situation.
A lot of southerners use the motto "Heritage, not hate" about the Rebel Flag. I think that most of our black figureheads would do well to use the same. Being black isn't being non-white. It's about a great history, rich indeed, but it should also include a promising and bright future. A future where we, ourselves, are part of the solution, instead of making up ficticious problems at every corner throughout history. ( Have you noticed, it'd cool to be proud to be black in color, but whites have to be proud of their nationalities, because if they choose to be proud of their white skin, then they're instantly branded racists by angry misguided blacks?)
Just a thought...

Racism is just as rampant in Hollywood and New York as it has ever been, but now it is disguised, I suppose Kanye might be feeling some racism of his own, I cant validate that at all, but I can say, that the media is so adamant about rooting out perceptions of racism they often dont look in the mirror and see the truth the way we see it. We dont spin a damn thing and we make up our own minds whatever colour we choose to be, and we can smell racism too.

j jackson was on cnn today. completely sidestepped the race issue this time. guess his advisers figured out there was no mileage in it. still sounded like an idiot, though at least this time it look like somone prepped him instead of him making up his own stuff off the cuff.

Don't get me started on Jesse Jackson. Who in their right mind would make him a civil rights activist?

He rose from the ranks of several prominent african american leaders during the sixties. What he fought for and his ideals are in step with the growth of the nation, his views however, more moderate than Louis Farakon are just as sensitive and often provoke anti-racial and racial sentiment. I learned about him as a boy going to George Washington Carver Junior High School in Montgomery Alabama during the Wallace years. I suggest you read about him, he is imminently qualified to represent moderate views on civil rights, but is often criticized for being racist himself.... http://www.rainbowpush.org/founder/. Whether you agree with his politics of lack of political accumen, he can represent himself extremely well, and still represents the African American community spiritually and has a good repore publically with the Nation of Islam.

well as a lion for civil rights, his teeth may have been worn down by scandal and intrigue that seems to have plagued a few presidents during that time as well, he has courage and he is embraced by generations of people that listened to his sermons and his political diatribe, he is still a powerful force among his peers, and the list of them all spans the 60s all the way to now. Pehaps time changes a man, I dont agree with him either, but he has earned my grudging respect as a man that wouldnt back down without a fight...perhaps he should step aside and let the new lions fight the battles on the new political playing field. I want to know who was representing the disenfrancised poor and indigent people of colour in New Orleans before this disaster struck them, who among them were trying to elevate the human condition and get them off welfare or teach them to help themselves...there is where you will find the young lions, and not all of them are male either. Perhaps the time of Jesse Jackson has passed and his brand of rhetoric is ignored or worse yet, simply misguided, he once spoke eloquently and touched hearts among his flock...perhaps he should return to his roots and remain viable unto them, if not us....

a little heavy on the rhetoric jeff. the guy is a hypocrite. his time was over when he lost site of his calling & became part of the political arena. his search for power destroyed the integrity(that is possibly up for debate to) he had long ago.

the rhetoric is mine, and I come by it honestly, but in deference to Jesse and anyone else who feels qualified to represent people of colour, the struggle for human rights and civil rights and the flag of peaceful change is often passed to the young. Jesse Jackson used to represent a constituency that was just realizing their power, perhaps in light of the changes in this century his message is lost on deaf ears, myself included, for every word that he might mis speak, every pearl of wisdom he might share is now hopelessly swallowed by the new generation of Americans that never knew him or Martin Luther King Jr. or the struggle for equal rights, perhaps Jesse Jackson really is obsolete..
But the message of equal rights and justice for all is not lost, the same America that many men and women of all races fought for must carryon, and perhaps New Orleans will teach us a lesson that working together is the only way we can accomplish this.
As George Bush said once, he wanted earnestly to be a uniter, not a divider. I welcome Bill Clinton and George Bush senior to help our current president bind the political and racial wounds that might have been exacerbated by this disaster, you cant say they arent trying.
Jesse Jackson, his mission if he chooses to accept it, is try to return to the spirtual roots he once had, return to the real message, which is fellowship and love for our fellow man, if he can accomplish that, he will have redeemed himself in my eyes and perhaps the eyes of a young America that only knows him by his sound bites..

Didn't he cheat on his wife and isn't he a pastor? or was. Thats a great role model, a racist pastor who cheated on his wife. Everything I've heard from his mouth sounds a lot like bullshit to me. I try to understand him sometimes, but he is like Gary Coleman, everywhere where you don''t wan't him. He appears in places he should not be, he is no Martin Luther or anywhere close and I'm tired of watching anything that has black people and news with him in it. About 99% of things. I think he is a media whore and extremely racist. I'm not tryin to bash your beliefs but he has no real purpose now except to be a tool of political parties who want the black vote.
