Peta
Id like to know what you guys think about the "People for Ethical Treatment of Animals" What I think could pretty much be sumed up by One Website
From the webpage:
- PETA has stated repeatedly that their goal is "total animal liberation." This means no pets, no meat, no milk, no zoos, no circuses, no fishing, no leather, and no animal testing for lifesaving medicines.
- PETA has given tens of thousands of dollars to convicted arsonists and other violent criminals.
- PETA funds the misnamed Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine 3, an animal-rights organization that presents itself as an unbiased source for nutritional information and has links to a violent animal-rights group called SHAC.
- PETA has used their contributors’ tax-exempt donations to fund the North American Earth Liberation front, an FBI-certified “domestic terrorist” group responsible for fire bombs and death threats.
- PETA regularly targets kids as early as elementary school with anti-meat and anti-milk propaganda.
- PETA spends less than one percent of its $13 million budget actually caring for animals.
- PETA has repeatedly attacked groups like the March of Dimes, the Pediatric AIDS Foundation, and the American Cancer Society, for conducting animal testing to find cures for birth defects and life-threatening diseases.
PETA has killed more animals then they have found homes for.

I have had very prsonal experiences w/ PETA and they are some of the most unethical people I know. They lie to the public constantly, they lie to courts, and are just have a very misguided view of reality in general. Most of these people are anti-social w/ humans so they have to resort to something else. If any of you have been to any PETA reserves its nuts. You see sick, sometimes dead animals laying around everywhere not to mention very heavy over population. I am against animal abuse and I really like just about all types of animals, but the public needs to wake up on some of these activists and put an end to them.

well environemntalists are just hinking about self preservation for the future. Just eat three tiems the meat you normally do to amke up for the animals PETA saves. my ex gf was part of PETA, dunno y she went out with me though, all I ate was meat then. I still like meat meat now but an occasional salid doesn't hurt. I don't want to save something that just tastes so damn good.

If a bear wants to eat me and can get ahold of me, I say, have at it. We o them no real respect, animals are lucky we even keep them as pets. We are at the top of the food chain but for some reason we are too considerate. O well no one listens to PETa anyway. Animal is bad, like how KFC pumps their chickens up with steriods while they are alive and as a result they die from it. But damn, those are some damn good tastin chicken.

2 of my sisters are vegetarians for "moral reasons". Meaning they think meat is delicious but they dont eat it because they dont want to hurt an animal's feelings. They arent shy about keeping multiple pets in their homes or how a pet bird might "feel" about having its wings clipped tho.

Anytime you deal with any group carrying any sort of agenda no matter how righteous it may seem you have to be wary. A lot of the time they're either brainwashed or corrupted by greed for cash, fame or whatever self-righteous reward system it is that makes these nuts ignore the reality and the damage they may be doing.
Perhaps hippies and zealots mean well or even sort of do some good in a sideways accidental sort of way but all the contradictions and contraversy that typically surround their practices have me thinking they're wasting our time, energy, and money.

PETA kinda reminds me of a terrorist organization. I doubt the people at the top totally believe what they preach, and they brainwash others to do their dirty work to rack in the money / attention.
I have to agree that some of the environmentalist groups are simply trying to preserve the earth. Most of the groups are OK, but you have a few radical ones thrown in there that kinda give them all a bad name. However I feel that what we do to the earth is so insignificant compared to what mother nature / the universe can do that when its time for the earth to be destroyed there will be nothing we can do about it anyways. It still nice to breathe clean air while we're here though.

What is lacking in the mind of people in groups like PETA, and also the industrial right, is an ability to think critically. For instance one could look into who backs Cato, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cato_Institute , and find that almost all their money comes from pro-big business sources. It then becomes very clear, why such an article was written and thus, what motivations were behind it.

Some of us in the Tidewater Area of Virginia (where PETA is headquartered in Norfolk, VA) have a saying "People Embarassing the Tidewater Area". I think this fits so much better than their official title, especially with how horribly they treat my town and those near us.

Consider that you get money for metals and not for pretty much anything else you manage to recycle. If it's so valuable to save these other resources why dont you get money or have to pay some sort of deposit or get a tax break for recycling paper and plastic and glass? Because "recycle metals and dont worry so much about glass, paper, plastics, etc. because it's a huge waste of your time, money, and ultimately does little good to save any resources whatsoever" isnt as effective a sound bite as "reduce, reuse, recycle." Only after the government steps in and imposes taxes on companies for using non-recycled products does it even come to be worthwhile for them to start using the recycled goods anyway. So, as it stands now, environmentalists are bastards (except maybe the one's that only push you to recycle your beer cans). Dont just take my word for it. Read up.

extremists and activeists in ANY form are a BAD thing!!!
Basically her a good example enviromentallists "spikeing trees" in cutting area's. So it
damage expensive equipment and can injer and KILL the people just trying to make a
buck and put food on thier and thier familys table. But mameing and killing people to save a tree is BS.
Same thing goes for animal people they woulds rather 100's of millions stave and die then
for us to kill and eat eat 1 animal. Again BS!
