There is no "right" answer.

I just wanted to know from someone who thinks God, a higher power, etc. is as real as Santa Claus- thinks about people who do evil things, what the next conclusion they come up with when they really start thinking about it.

Are the people born that way? Why is it that everyone doesn't end up a mass murderer, or a terrorist hell bent on killing people, or a rapist or child molester who rips people's lives apart without a second thought? Hmm, makes you think huh?

actually science can give us more of an answer than 'they're evil' already. it's up to us as a society to let that answer be heard.

I pretty much answered this in my long ass post about religion/science being personal philosophy about 10 replies back. (I realize it was a long rambling tirade that few people may have actually read tho)

Whereas religion is generally failing in regards to being a moral code or a system of laws, science could succeed. Imagine a "reformed criminal". Difficult to fathom in today's "they're bad so they go to hell when they die" world, but science could make it reality. I think man can survive without knowing where he came from. I think it's time people take things they learn in the bible and live by it if they feel it sounds good, but it's also time for us to apply science where it can actually help us (stopping systems of abuse, drug addiction, reforming criminals, dealing with depression) instead of relying on a 2000 year old book or The Hand of God to magically fix everything.

To deny parts of the bible that are obvious bullshit is not to deny your faith. Do you think "just love jesus and you go to heaven" would have passed for christianity 1000 years ago? Things evolve, people evolve (maybe not the best wording ). It's time mankind took responsiblity for itself. It's quite obvious that religion isn't giving us the help we need when it comes to certain, very important things (creation be damned).

You have what the Bible says completely wrong.. you think people who believe in what the Bible teaches have no sense of responsibility for some reason, that is completely opposite from the way it is.

So are you retracting your statement that people do evil thing? Are you then also retracting what you just said that evil existed and now saying evil does not exist?
It isn't the point that "they're evil" as you said, the point is that they do evil things- therefore, evil exists.

No God does not have a physical body as you know it. All these questions you are asking are like what a 3 year old would ask. Just because you aren't "religious" doesn't mean you should be totally ignorant.

actually i think religious types have an inflated and sometimes dangerous sense of responsiblity (ie: suicide bombers). whether it is a responsiblity toward their fellow man or toward thier own inflated sense of self purpose is where the problem lies. There are no non-christian groups rallying to ban boobies in video games because they realize there is already a self-policing system (good parenting and the ESRB) in place that is working out splendidly without wasting tax dollars and government time.

American government are christian fanatics, they dont do suicide bombings because they have massive military equipment (tanks,planes,battleships) to do it for them. They believe they are fighting a war on evil througout the world and it is their duty to rid us of it.

It is in essence a war of good vs evil, comming straight from Bush himself. What is good? What is evil? Clearly 100,000+ civilians dead isnt good, or is it...?

(I was being topical in using the current video game fiasco as an example) Ever heard of radical anti-abortionists? And President Bush said he's doing god's work sending our military to war.
