China Says It's Prepared to use Nukes Against US

China says it is willing to use nuclear weapons against the US if it is attacked by the US in a confrontation over Taiwan.

General Zhu Chenghu, a Major General in the Peoples Liberation Army, stated that if America tries to aid Taiwan by drawing missiles and other "position-guided ammunition" that it will "have to respond with nuclear weapons".

"If the Americans are determined to interfere [then] we will be determined to respond," Zhu stated in the article. He also stated that Americans will have to be prepared that "hundreds of cities will be destroyed by the Chinese."

They would be foolish to do so, and we for doing anything to temp them so. Nuclear weapons were indeed a foolish creation, but as with all weapons, they never fathomed what may occur in the future due to them.

One way or another, there will be someone stupid enough to think their actual use would be beneficial, since I am sure they in the end along with whatever country they belong to will cease to exist.

That general didn't say he would attack USA City. Defence≠Offensive: He meant if US come to the territory of China or China's Tai Wan, China probably launch nuck to the territory.
Your title is "...against..." Is that you wanna against China, or you say so about the topic?

worth the death of every man woman and child in china for them??? What good will
it do them to have taiwan if thier all dead?

I know at one time we constantly maintained one of our Pacific battle groups near Taiwan, just incase China decided to do something, I doubt that policy has changed. As far as us protecting Taiwan from China, we have pledged to protect them as our allies, and I doubt this threat will change that.

We will also never nuke the general populace of China, it would be unnecessay, if we take out there military installations (no small number of casualties granted) that would be enough.

The last thing this country needs is another war in another country. No one wins in Nuclear strikes, and it wouldn't just be limited to just China & USA. If you really want to hurt China totally stop all business with them. Don't allow any of their products in this country. We depend on low cost but I'd rather buy stuff from Europe (or here), and pay more. I guess Walmart would have to close then. BTW, I thought China already annexed Taiwan anyway? Once again USA World Police to the rescue, we really need to stop doing that shit.

a given. If it a tradional fight of couse no WMD would be needed or used.

You guys don't get it. I'm not advocating a 1st strike but simply stateing what will be done in responce to such an attack on US soil. nukes would be fired from silos all over the us as well as suberminces and carriers and our soilos located over seas.

There would be no debate about this they lauch we launch it not a debatable sitatuion. Thier talking about hundreds of cities being destoyed not some tatical bombing or millitary targest. Thier refering to killing massies of our civillians/citizens wich is just short of terroirm just to jest such a thing. Thier threadting to kill masses of amercans if we interfere with thier acts of aression and ocupation of a independant nation. taiwan been sperated since 1949 from china but china has been in denial wants them back, along with thier thier resouces, and thier now global technoligical importance. We simply
can not allow it as in our and the taiwans intrests are both served by them remaining
independant.

If there is UN invovlement the China is pretty screw'd...

No it would be the USA protecting an allie that we have sworn in the past to protect, if China invaded another of our allies I would expect the same response from us, that we protect them as best we can.

I don't think you guy understand how sever it is to use nukes. They arent used to nuke milltary only thier used to kill masses of people fast, efficently, and effetively.

You don't get it, You DON'T USE NUKES to take out millitary targets. We aren't talking tatical nukes we are talking 40-80-120+ mega ton mass killers that will wipe out more civillians then milltary personel. Why would we respond with "light force" to such a attack?? Like I said a seen as out stilies deteced a launch we would drop to defcon one.
Our numlar bombers would go airboarn, our subs would take fireing postion, along with carrier would arm and our silos would be on full allert. A single yes sir and those not wear 50,000,000 spf sun block LOL or are not in a proper bunker will most surely die.

It wasn't said they nuke milltary targets or anything they said they would nuke 100's of US cities. you know, no milltary, just mostly civllian men wemon and children being killed kinda like herosima. Why would we repond to such an attack with a milltary target only option? Hell no! they would be going to enjoy the full might of the US arsonal in such a case. I'd expect to see at lest 80-90% of thier population wiped out in the intal attack and most of the rest would die after the fact..

In a nular war no one wins, but when you launched against we launch many of ours. Wich another contary could fallow suit use it as a opertunity to attack other contries or china or the US.... THe world would goto hell in a handbag

Many major Chinese cities would go, definately, but I don't see them launching on areas that have no signifigance, the whole country would not be taken out (if they fired on most of our major cities most of america (landwise) would still be ok, northeast would be gone, along with most of the east and west coasts, but most of the land in between would be fine,obvious exceptions include denver, chicago, etc). I recognize we aren't talking tactical nukes, and taking out military and government areas would kill tens (or hundreds) of millions, including most major cities, however I can't see us taking out masses of civilians for the sole purpose of taking out masses of civilians, e.g. cities with no military or govermental importance. If the military and government is gone there is no reason to kill the innocent civilians (and the chinese civilians are innocent in such a situation).
