Politics is pointless.
This may be my last thread on this forum. I'm sure some people here will be glad of that. But before I leave I want to pose one question. Or better still I want to make a statement and then ask for people's views on it.
The statement I want to make is that poltics is pointless. Since politics is pointless and we all patently don't get on - then why don't we all just take up guns and start shooting each other (literally), or locking each other up indefinately without any prospect of release? What in other words in a society where we all so violently disagree with each other, is the purpose of discussion? Does it have any value at all? After all, just killing each other would be so much simpler and easier - wouldn't it? What purpose does getting people (in all places around the world) who violently and fundamentally disagree with each other to talk really serve - or does it serve any purpose at all?

i disagree with your statement
the idea of politics is a very sound one, but the current worldwide implementation is appalling

Raids gone postal!! no but seriously Raid517 I understand your frustration bro, the world or should I say the people in this crazy world we live in sometimes just want a simple answer and there isn't any. It's sad to see the destruction and hate of so many things going on right now and it gets a little scary to be honest. It's hard to watch the news anymore, it makes me sick to my stomach. But I feel your pain man.. Keep your chin up bro.

I wouldnt say that there are no simple answers...on the contrary. I would say that some issues and disagreements (notice "some", not all) are over-complicated and over-publicized to the point of destroying the original intent. An example of this is the recent Schiavo case.
Theres no reason to be upset at the news...violence is nothing new to our species, even at this level. Its just now that it is on 4 24hr news stations that people believe times are worse, where as in the past it was just unknown to the world or written in some small column on the weekly town newspaper.

Politics is not pointless. We all so violently disagree? If your views were a LOT more mallable then they currently are, you wouldn't find yourself butting heads with so many other forum members. Also, consider the medium you're in - a forum is meant not only to annouce your opinion, but also to work in a discussion with others to solve a problem or work towards a middle ground. Coming to a mutually beneficial agreement is politics, not beating everyone with a distinct firm opinion. If you simply want to vent uncontestable opinion, then start a blog. "The world according to me." There is no politics in that. Can't say the same about pointless...

Raid
Sturmbahn you hit the nail right on the head. well said.
Raid, Such nonsense. Politics would of course be useless if every politican was like you and just spoke without listening to others. Thats a dictatorship not a democracy.
If you didnt profess in your own arrogant way to be an expert on everything (which you most certainly arent) and actually listened to people then you wouldnt need these dramatic self absorbed threads. This forum section isnt called "the world according to me."
This nonsense is closed, hopefully some other people in this forum section can have reasonable debate.
