the need for corporal punishment

We need to go back to corporal punishment for kids seriously they need to know that they have to fear something so they dont do stupid shit, for some reason for the past year and half we keep on hearing about kids less than ten years old killing people and we have another case now http://www.cnn.com/2005/LAW/06/01/ba....ap/index.html
and freaking 7 year old kid brutally kills his 7 month old sister and shows no remorse, now we cant do shit to punish our kids and they know it and they do what ever they want since there is nothing to fear anymore, we need to bring back the belts and the rulers.

I agree that I think we as a society have become too lax these days when it comes to disciplining children these days. Although I don't think all of it comes from the fact that the use of rulers and belts has fallen by the wayside simpley becausemany see it as too harsh or unpolitically correct. I think much of the problems with today's children stems from the fact that many parents do absolutely nothing to govern then. Instead of instilling values and morals at younger ages, they let them do what they want, when they want, simply saying that they're letting their children "learn the ways of the world on their own".

I'm not sure just saying that we need to make punishment more harsh on children is the right thing, if anything, I think parents should be held more accountable for their children's actions. Sure, that won't solve everything, there's always going to be "problem" children with unusual circumstances, but until parents take a more active role in their childrens life, things will only continue to trend downward.

So you mean a kid should choose not to kill a family member out of fear? That would have to be one sick twisted home I'd say. Most people refrain from killing others because they have developed the ability to put themselves in anothers position. A family who cannot provide an environment where any kid more or less free from mental issues would develop basic human compassion should not have kids, and preferably not guns either.

Well I don't know what to make of all of this at all.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/tm_obje...name_page.html

I mean where is it all comming from? How can kids be so cruel?

I guess the ony consolation is that these really are very much freak incidents.

But I sure wish I understood better what was going on in these kids minds when they do stuff like this. It simply isn't normal.
