Yes I have been there. I had a daughter at 18. *I* worked my ass off. 3 jobs! *I* bought my own house.Note: no help from mommie and daddy. *I* paid all the medical bills. Did I make my woman work? NO! reason very important for a baby to be with there mother first year in life.Did I get food stamps? HELL NO! Did my daughter get medicade? HELL NO! reason : I am a man, as a man I take care of my family`s needs. NOT THE GOVERNMENTS JOB! So please dont ASSume I havent ever been there. Also I give more than you will ever know. I am sure some of the people who know me can vouge for that. Then you know what? I joined the army. Reason: 1) To provide for my family the best benifits, best medical period. IMO every male should atleast server 1 year in the military maybe some of the brats would grow up.2) To serve my country. 3) To help me learn more responabilty.
Then guess what happened! Bitch cheated on me emptyed my bank account *cough* $13,000 *cough* paid for her to marry this guy. I some how bought him a car. LOL still havnt figured that one out. I love everything I had worked my ass off for. You know what I did? DID I ask for handouts? Fuck no. I got off my ass and worked for my goals. So please dont assume you know someone and you dont.
BTW digital I still love ya as a brother. Just drives my bonkers when someone assumes things.
EDIT: I know my spelling sucks! Deal with it.

Shaith, how DARE you even suggest that I don't care about the "human element"? That statement is as dogmatic as any. You have the gall to attack me as a hater merely because you see no other intelligent argument. Somehow, because my take on economic stimulation differs from yours, it automatically means that I don't care about what happens to the less fortunate in this country. That argument is most foul and makes me lose even more respect for hateful and arrogant liberals such as yourself. All I can say is, Shaith, is that you would make a very good party Democrat. Even your hatreds are typical.
I see a reduction in taxes as necessary because it historically stimulates economic growth. Argue the merits of that with me if you can, but keep your mindless stereotypes to your self. In my view, a booming economy leads to a generation of wealth, which trickles down. When you see a drop in the unemployment rate, Shaith, that is a good thing. That means poor Americans and unemployed Americans GET THEM. I'll be damned if you simplify me and my beliefs into some putrid stereotype that you and your party created. I do not hate the poor. I do not hate those that are not well-off. And I do not favor corporate earnings any more than I favor the earnings of average Americans. The only reason I believe corporations are good things is because when corporations do well, they hire more people. And when they hire people, one less American family goes hungry. Keep your filthy dogma to yourself. Just because I'm not pro-socialism doesn't mean I'm anti-people.
You're the one on a throne, Shaith. You're the one that's holier-than-thou, pronouncing judgement on a whole subset of political intellectuals simply because their means to utopia lies in stark contrast to your own. You're the one that's being ignorant. The only way you discredit me is to call me a hater when you know so very little about me. Do you even know any Republicans? What American wants to see his fellow man suffer? How dare you even suggest that I somehow don't CARE about my American brothers simply because I think the best way to make this country rich and prosperous is by lowering taxes?
I am wholly disgusted by your hatred for a political view that you clearly don't know the first thing about.

That is exactly what our Liberal government said to us in Canada 25 years ago. Now our gun laws are completely oppressive. Never trust the left when it comes to gun control.

Geesh people, this is actually very simple. Liberals are fokking retarded. In the short term their ideas work great, but if you look at history their ideas are ALWAYS going to fail.
To be a liberal means you don't know much history and/or are stupid.

Everyone needs to vote it is your right and your own individual way to try and make a change.
1. The economy was in a downturn at the end of clinton's term, if you cant see that something is wrong.
2. Reaganomics failed becuase he had nothing but a democrat filled house and senate, they have more power than the president actually.
3. Hey i am not going to complain about getting a tax rebate-free money is always good.
4. I do not need the goverments help, i work my ass off and raise 2 kids. There are too many people sucking off of welfare as it is
yeah im republican

No, incentives spur growth. Get the companies to start putting workers back to work, then people get more comfy, they start spending money and buying more stuff. Doesn't matter if it's favorable interest rates, tax breaks, companies just need a nudge. The average joe will start spending more $ when things look brighter.
When the news is dominated by companies folding, bankruptcy, people being laid off, Joe American doesn't spend his money, he holds on tight, and not even a tax cut will change that - attempt to argue it all you want, you're dead flat wrong. It's basic economics from the most fundamental level. The "feel-good" purchases fall by the wayside until people start feeling good. Otherwise, it's necessities only.

The unemployment rate ROSE here. It didn't FALL. It went UP. You know the opposite of DOWN? That means MORE people who have NO JOBS.
Booming economy? Exploded is a better word for it - it's completely and utterly in shambles right now.

No the best way to make this country rich and prosperous is by putting everyone to work. To do that you need demand. To get demand you have to have companies willing to produce products and put people to work so they can afford to buy these things in the first place.
Incidentally, we tried the tax cut. Yup, we sure did. We cut the shit outta them there taxes, and guess what - the downward slide continued. The stock market finally stopped its head-first plummet, but by no means has the economy recovered. You're heading into the biggest shopping season of the year, and people don't have money to shop. Most families are figuring out who the required gift recipients are, and the rest are going to get cards, perhaps a gift certificate to blockbuster. For some, their gifts this year will consist of creature comforts like food and shelter. For some, they won't even have that to look forward to.
"Do you even know any Republicans?"
Yes, as a matter of fact. I'm in a mostly Republican state. My entire family for the most part votes Republican. My vote will, in all likelyhood, mean very little in the grand scheme of things, as it's nigh impossible for a Democrat or an Independent to win in this state. But: I VOTED.

Oh spare me, once and for all, your preaching about hatred. It doesn't work for Jesse Jackson, and it isn't gonna work for you.
Now, in the interest of maintaining the friendship we've had, I'm going to ask you one more time - don't drag me back into this.

if you can ever afford to get a place to live, when you receive your first payment bill VOTE ON THAT, bitch.

You mock me, spew ideology, and show me nothing but disrespect -- yet I'm the one that has to stop in order to preserve civil relations?
I will cease posting in reply to anything you've said, but only because it's clear to me that you don't know what you're talking about.
I say that the economy's recovering because the GDP is up. This is true. But you contest this by citing that the news is still full of bad stories. Good point.
I say that, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate has dropped since April, which it has -- yet you contest this.
I say that the GDP has been increasing, which it has. Instead, you just say that the economy is still "exploding" and somehow we're supposed to believe you. You know better than the Department of Commerce's Bureau of Economic Analysis? Gee, Shaith, I had no idea you were such an economic authority!
You say that the stock market is in bad condition, and there is some truth to this, but it's also true that the stock market has been rallying for four straight weeks. It's also true that new home sales hit the highest rate on record. It's also true that economist estimate that 2002 will be the best year for home sales ever. It's also true that the Dow gained 1,000 points in less than a month, and it's also true that Russell 2000 index (which tracks smaller company stocks) had a modest gain, too.
So, yeah, Shaith, I will stop responding to you, because you are so blinded by your disdain for the Republican Party that you ignore facts. I have no intellectual respect for someone that is apparently unable to use or refute facts.

DW, I've already made all the convincing arguments for Reagan. GDP up, personal wealth up, inflation down, unemployment down, and taxes down. If that's not progress, I'm afraid of what liberals want for this country. You know, the only argument I've ever heard about the "failure" of Reaganomics is an "increased deficit." If that's truly all you liberals have, then you make me sadder than you already do. While it is true that the actual value of the deficit went up, the deficit as a percentage of the GDP went down. Prior to Reagan, the debt was about 50% of the GDP. After Reagan, it was 40% of the GDP. In other words, DW, who is more in debt? The guy that makes $100,000 and owes the bank $50,000, or the guy that makes $187,000 and owes $74,800?

HERE HERE!!!! The only uncontestable fact laid out yet!!!!
Hey I'm not in anyway going to say that regan failed, unless I already did, I was only 5 when his administration ended, but I do remember the Dukakas/Bush election! Wierd, I just remember seeing their faces on TV and watching Peter Jennings comment on it. Frankly I'm all out of steam on the subject I'm too frustrated with all the lies and deception in politics to really givea damn which party is in control, they're both going to f*ck things up, only becaue things are f*cked to begin with. Frankly my opinion at this point is that we need to start fixing the problems, not the blame.

Because we disagree Ry, because we disagree.
I was 18 in 1984 when I first voted against Reagan, because I felt he was killing our economy with his voodoo economics/trickle-down effect crap. No figures you give me are going to change my mind on that, I've mentioned my feelings on how people skew statistics to fit the facts they want...I really believe that. Then as now I think that the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer; so even though the the AVERAGE level of income is going up, more people than ever are getting the short end of the stick.
Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, can change my opinion of that. I'm talking first hand experiences here from living in/growing up in that era...no amounts of statistics are gonna change my memory, no matter who writes 'em.
I'm done arguing. The election is over, it looks like my side lost. I don't think it should have, I don't like it, and I am truly scared about what this forbodes for our country and our world....but I'm thru arguing over it as I don't see it as being very productive right now, nor very popular.
I disagree, and I'm saddened...but I think I'm thru with this thread for awhile.
