Here in canada hand guns, assault rifles, are banded (i think). Also long guns needed to be registered, but i think they should have left these out (Hunting rifles).
Why? because thier a lot harder to commit crimes with. and not so easy to take to school.
Either way if a guy wants to kill with a gun thiers always the black market
The right to bare arms is somthing we dont have here in canada
and that sucks
They say its for our own safety $$$$, seat belt law was the same thing $$$$
They dont fool me

You're right, cars are doubly dangerous, especially the ones with a gun in the glove compartment!

Actually, Canadians own 7,000,000 guns. Which, all other things being equal, would mean that 2/3 of Canadian households have at least one gun.

americans own more than 300,000,000 guns. all other things being equal, that means that each person has at least one gun. now, if everyone actually had one gun, instead of the criminals having 5 or more on avg, things would be safer. (200 mil legal, 100 mil illegal)

So remember kids: Guns don't kill people. Bullets kill people.
Now go outside and run with scissors.

Bullets do not kill people. If I handed you a case of ammunition, would you spontaneously combust? The only way a person will die from a bullet is if the person holding the gun has the initiative to load, caulk, aim, and fire that weapon for the purpose of killing.

If guns are outlawed, doesn't that leave outlaws with all the guns?
I personally own and have registered 3 pistols, 4 shotguns, and 5 rifles for a total of 12 weapons, not including Crossbow's, Bow's and hunting knives, that would bring the total closer to 30. I also have a license to carry a concealed firearm in the state I live in, but seldom ever do. I was taught long ago by my father to respect and the way to handle firearms. I have hunted since age 10, and still enjoy it. Both of my daughters as well as my wife have fired weapons, been taught the proper way to handle, load, unload and fire them. They have seen the damage that they can do and are WELL aware that they are not toys. When you take a firearm into your home, you assume a responsibility to educate everyone in your household about the do's and don'ts of that weapon and YOU take complete responsibility for anything that happens with that weapon. If you are not ready to handle that responsibility, and most people aren't, then you should never bring a firearm into your home. The problem arises when irresponsible people are allowed to posess firearms. I honestly think that everyone who tries to buy a firearm should be made by law to attend a FAMILY firearm safety class before even being allowed to own a BB gun AND that before your allowed to buy ammunition of a certain caliber, you should have to prove you have a registered weapon of that caliber or its no ammo for you. Will that ever happen, probably not. but you don't just tell a kid, "Don't touch this!" Has that ever worked with anything?
I agree on the point that there need to be some tighter controls on the way guns are acquired and on the types of guns being acquired, but that just means that normal people like me and you have a harder time buying a firearm. The guy that just broke in to your house and shot your dog; his firearm was stolen, no fuss no muss. Get rid of guns here? Never happen. You might make all the John Q Public's turn over theirs, but I don't see the people who use them for crimes in that line anytime soon. And just for the record, NO ONE needs to own an assault rifle of any type for any reason, and by assault rifle, I simply mean one designed by or for military or law enforcement use ie ak-47,AR15,M4, M16, SAS, UZI, Calico, MP5..etc.etc. I cannot honestly think of one use for these types of weapons other than killing people and have absolutely no problem with them being banned. But the only way your ever going to get my hunting rifles is prying them from my cold dead fingers.
