To Answer Malkor's Question only

Malkor asked this question in another thread that I somehow missed. I know that the thread was started for me to explain and I want to without name calling or nonsense accusations of homophobe.

I am going to try to explain this the best I can in the small ammount of time that I have to do so. First let me try to give an example of this. Jehova's Witnesses for example bother people when visiting people's home's to advertise their religion. Now I do not hate Jehova's Witnesses, I used to live next door to a family of them and they were great people. I however did not care for their religion. We never really discussed it and I respected the fact that it was their choice. Never once ever had a problem with them personally.

Now about homosexuality. I had friends over the past 10 years of being in the military and what not that were gay. I was good friends with one of them, went out for beers with him, whatever. I knew he was gay. He knew that I wasn't and we got along just fine and respected one another's personal choices. I just did not agree with his lifestyle. I did not agree with two men having sex together. He knew that but we never argued about it and he never tried to hit on me. We respected one another's opinions on the matter. Of course over time you lose contact with people when you are in the military and each goes his own way. Now he admitted to me that he was gay dispite the "don't ask, don't tell" policy of the military. I never reported him, it wasn't any of my business.

As you can see and I hope this makes some sense and answers some of the questions asked. You can disagree with the homosexuality just like some of you do not want to be christians or you hate religion, that doesn't make you a biggot. That doens't mean you hate Christians. Now I can not say the same for everyone on both sides of the political spectrum. You will never hear me say: "I hate homosexuals" and you will never find reference to such. Yet I've been accused as such here and such accusations apparently cary some weight which is unfair. I challenge some of you to seriously browse through these forums and you will find people say such things as "I hate Christians" rather than "I hate christianity." There is a difference and that is what you call biggotry.

Well you have made references to gay people as living a 'deviant lifestyle.' That is a little less than the live and let live attitude you appear to be expressing here.

I think from the libertarian standpoint what most people are saying is that the way people choose to live their lives is none of our - and therefore none of your damned business and that you should poke your nose the hell out of other people's affairs. It is of no consequence that you 'do not agree with it.' because it is unlikely to ever impact on you in any significant way. Why should what gay people do or do not do be of such profound interest to you that you should opt to revisit the subject over and over again?

That is the point of it - that is what perturbs many people about the so called religious right, because they have a very nasty/annoying habit of poking their noses it where they are not wanted.

Jehovah's witnesses and gays are hardly the same thing. It is possibly an unfortunate (although I suspect deliberate) comparison - since quite clearly the vast majority of gay people are not going to go around America knocking on people's doors trying to convert you and your family.

That is simply a convenient means of instigating a moral panic - that somehow if we allow gay people to live freely and in peace they will actively work to subvert our society.

I don't think there is any evidence for that - for all of the reasons we have discussed many times over in the past. (For this to hold, you have to admit that it is possible for anyone to become spontaneously gay - and again there is no real credible evidence for this).

Anyway as I said all of these subjects have been discussed endlessly in the past. I don't think it's productive to drag them up again.

All that will happen is you will ignore everything that has been said - continue to post links to sites of questionable repute - and go on in your unshakable conviction that this somehow proves your perspective to be accurate. No doubt it will end in the same old fights and arguments that it always does.

So what the hell point is there in that?

I say we all should move on and find something new to talk about.

As Jeff put it, enough of this.

You may be obsessed with it, but personally I'm I completely sick of talking about it.

I can't make a post or answer anyone's question without this shit from you. My post isn't for you to respond to. Nor do I care what you have to say about it. You lie. You hate christians and have admitted to it. You are in NO place to judge me on anything.

My paragraph aboutt Jehova's Witnesses is to make a point, not for your delusional thought process to create stupid accusations and conspiracy theories. If you do not understand my point as simple as it is, then you are in the wrong forum. You embarass yourself.

I would like to know if Malkor's question has been answered, not for you to crap all over this thread to get it closed. Stay out of it.

You are posting on an open forum - if you do so this by it's nature infers that you invite comment from others no matter how little you might feel you like what they have to say.

I'm here, I'm staying - and I'm not going to go away any time soon. Get over it.

In any case I have asked you politely once already to tone down your vitriol and blatantly insulting tone towards me.

I ask you again one last time before I make a formal complaint.

This is intended to be a debating forum - not a place where you can come and exercise your personal daemons - or where you can feel at liberty to openly insult other forum members purely on the basis that you do not like them.

And for the 5 millionth time there is only one brand of Christian that I truly hate - and that is the kind that preaches hatred and intolerance towards others. You are wrong if you somehow think that makes me feel ashamed, I feel no shame whatsoever for hating bigotry and intolerance wherever I might find it. I doubt that too is likely to change - despite whether or not you feel that makes your life here easier or not.

But again I ask you to tone down your attacks. This forum is rapidly becoming unworkable because of them. If you intend to continue to post here you must accept that there are others here who have an equal right to continue to do so also - and you have no right whatsoever to assume that you have any cause to ask them to stop. There are lots of views here. It is unlikely to ever be the case that anyone will feel inspired to stop expressing them simply because you do not like them.

It is up to you to defend your point of view - not for others to give way just because you do not want to hear what they have to say. It would make a refreshing change therefore if you for once in your life opted to try to stay on topic - without causing every thread you participate in to descend into a fight.
