Does French Gov't Really have Heads Buried in Sand?

A chartered jetliner, carrying mostly French tourists, crashed today killing all aboard.

The French government says they don't plan to initiate an investigation because it appears the crash was due to mechanical failure....and not a terrorist act.

YET, the crash occured as the British prime minister was visiting the very resort from which the jet took off.

If any of the victims were my friends or relatives, I'd be insisting on a full investigation...and expect the government to initiate one.

But, maybe that's just me.

Did either of you actually read the article? An investigation including french personnel is already in motion. And where would the political debate in this mud slinging be?

The debate here is whether the French government would in-act an investigation or not.
OK - it's not really much of a debating point. But then neither are things like the Kyoto agreement which various peeps here (including me) sling around with great glee every few months.

Remember, this forum isn't just about debating a point, it's also about stating opinions on anything political - including bland media coverage

The official statement by the French Government might be hyperbole, it is entirely possible that an investigation is going on as we sit in front of our computer monitors.

That could be true but for my own fun I like to think not.

My opinion is that France is mad because no one cares that France is mad. It is a vicious cycle!
