Obama wins 2009 Nobel Peace Prize
US President Barack Obama has been awarded the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize.
The Nobel Committee said he won it for "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and co-operation between peoples". The committee highlighted Mr Obama's efforts to support international bodies and promote nuclear disarmament. Mr Obama's spokesman said the president was "humbled" to have won the prize. He said he woke Mr Obama up when he called with the news early on Friday _________________ source : BBC

Why would they award him the NPP? I'm at a complete loss here.
He has done absolutely nothing to warrent this. I mean come ON. He was sworn into office on Jan 20. The deadline for nominations fro the NPP was FEB 1. Now someone PLEASE tell me what he did in those 12 days that was worthy of the NPP.

getting a NPP for what someone says the want to do or promise to do. Anyone that knows the history of the NPP can see that this is clearly politically motivated and absolute rubbish... maybe he is the anti-christ after all. I am disgusted.

If there was anything that diminished the merit of a NPP it was this.
but what do I care? Politicians come and go. I am sure that there was someone that thought Caligula was misunderstood. That Bill Clinton was telling the truth. That George Bush was a uniter and not a divider.

btw... why would anyone accept an award that has utterly nothing to do with them... doesn't even match what they've done or accomplished....
It'd be like me winning the miss universe award without ever showing up and to boot, being male!.... would you still accept it? I bloody well wouldn't.... I think some awards are total crock.

I like Obama coz i'm black and felt the pain of racism growing up, but he hasnt done anything to deserve it. The cooperate system is trying to "put lipstick on a pig"
.They did a horrible job with Bush and Bush was the epitomy of what they stood and stand for. They are now attempting to show a "prettier face" , if they had continued with Bush or a Bush-like figure a revolt might have ensued so this is their tactic, unfortunately people are buying it. America will one day revolt against their "democracy"(hidden cooporate dictatorship) when this system starts taking far too many liberties with Americans lives, You might say they arent doing that, they are.....Iraq.....Afghanistan What are those wars for global safety or oil? They are already wasting and sacrificing americans and for their profits.

For everything you can point out that Obama might have screwed up on I can poinbt out 50 flaws he's fixed from Bush, like oh he bowed to the saudi king, what being respectful even if not fully aware of every custom is somehow weak now? gimme a break. Bush officially screwed thethe republican party from ever being able to talk about the constitution like they love it. The only one I even listen to anymore is Ron Paul, and even he's half out on his rocker. Point out your claims with facts or please stop bashing YOUR president. Or in the case of Non - Americans bashing him, don't believe foxnews, drudge simply because they can twist facts. Anything can be edited, twisted or bashed, no he's not a great speaker without his tele-prompt, but then again I hate talking into an answering machine for the same reason, what exactly are you suppose to say 24/7 when everyone is recording your every moment, people make mistakes, back off the guys nuts. He is 20x the president bush ever was in his A game. and I bet you 100$ if 9/11 did happen again on Obama's watch it wouldn't take him 7 minutes to act like a president.

I think Obama probably should have rejected it but then only one person has ever refused the prize so it's probably bad taste to do so. He had no say in the matter so there's no point getting worked up about it.
