OBAMA wins

They just announced it. They (news channels) said it came over the AP wires about 1:30PM EST Tuesday, June 3, 3008.
They said he affectively clinched the nomination.. So I guess our next president will be McCain.

It is a huge milestone though, the first black man that has come this far, and has a real chance at the presidency.

Yah, I was so excited that I accidentally posted into the Off-Topic instead of here. Ah, well. The important thing is it's time for some change.

McCain will be crushed by Obama. The Republicans were doomed in this election no matter who the democrats ran but with "Change" up against "Change my diapers" it's a lock for Obama as President.

And to think I used to chuckle at "24" and its black president as nothing but fiction. Well, let's all hope he doesn't end up like David Palmer did

In Just One Year

Part 1

In just one year. Remember the election in 2006?
Thought you might like to read the following:

A little over one year ago:

1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;

2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;

3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.

Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we

have seen:

1) Consumer confidence plummet;

2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a
gallon;

3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);

4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity
value evaporate (stock

and mutual fund losses);

5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2
trillion dollars;

6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.

America voted for change in 2006, and we got it!

Remember it's Congress that makes law not the President.
He has to work with what's handed to him.

Part 2:

Taxes...Whether Democrat or a Republican you will find

these statistics enlightening and amazing.

The Tax Foundation - U.S. Federal Individual Income Tax Rates History, 1913-2008
<http://www.taxfoundation.org/publications/show/151.html>

Taxes under Clinton 1999 Taxes under Bush
2008

Single making 30K - tax $8,400 Single making 30K
- tax $4,500

Single making 50K - tax $14,000 Single making 50K
- tax $12,500

Single making 75K - tax $23,250 Single making 75K
- tax $18,750

Married making 60K - tax $16,800 Married making 60K
- tax $9,000

Married making 75K - tax $21,000 Married making 75K
- tax $18,750

Married making 125K - tax $38,750 Married making 125K
- tax $31,250

Both democratic candidates will return to the higher tax
rates. It is amazing how many people that fall into the categories above
think Bush is screwing them and Bill Clinton was the greatest President
ever. If Obama or Hillary are elected, they both say they will repeal
the Bush tax cuts and a good portion of the people that fall into the
categories above can't wait for it to happen.

PART 3:

If you think the war in Iraq is costing us too much,

How can anyone actually think John McCain can win? The Republicans had their 8 years and Americans are going to vote Democrat no matter what. He's not helping his chances by continuing many of Bush's policies and sounding like "same old, same old" which people don't want to hear right now. This election is for the Democrats to lose and by knocking their weakest link out of the election (Clinton) it's all but set in stone.

No offense, but you're a fucking idiot (yes, no offense). There was no basis to make such a claim other than shear ignorance.

Exactly what I was about to say. Americans are done with Republicans. I won't be in the least bit surprised if Obama wins in an avalanche.

You must know... Obama is far, far left.. He cannot be judged by his record, so he has to be judged by his associations. Ever seen the loony crazy "church".. I mean, racist rally he attended for 20 years? He has many weaknesses. McCain is pretty much a RINO anyway... so he'll get a lot of conservative democrats or "Reagan democrats"..

Can't be judged by his record? You wish! Him being against the Iraq war is the main reason he was able to beat Clinton and it will also allow him to beat McCain.

Obama has already survived the Clinton machine and let's face it, his dirty laundry has been exposed enough already that if McCain even tries the same tactic the voters will turn on him. Even so, Obama has managed to make it through the Wright scandal and he quit the church which leaves little for McCain to attack.

I agree that McCain is a good Republican and a strong candidate but this election is all about timing. McCain and Clinton both ran at the wrong time. It is so obvious to anyone not American how this election is going to go. Frankly, it's delusional to believe the Republicans are going in for a 3rd term. Even if McCain was the better candidate it wouldn't make a difference to the voters who see him as more of the same.

I really don't think there's much chance of there being a landslide, or even a particular easy race. Too many people from both sides are entrenched in supporting a particular party regardless of anything else. If either candidate manages more than 53% of the popular vote, I'll be seriously surprised.

Far, far left is pushing it, even in the context of American politics. Ralph Nader is far left, and someone like Róger Calero is extreme left. On a world political scale, Obama is still somewhat right-wing.

I think the most interesting thing is how in the middle both (potential) candidates are. I'm not a huge fan of either of them, after all, they're politicians. Sad thing is, the biggest problem in the US political system can't be solved by the President alone. Either way, it'll be interesting television/radio until the general election.

Remember how Gore got all fat and grew a beard when he lost the presidential race? (er, rather stolen from him) I wonder if Hillary Clinton will do the same if she can't be VP and her chances of being in the White House are gone forever.

I think that was an act of desperation to get him to quit so she could be the nominee.

Obama/Clinton ticket would surely be unstoppable but "Prison Break" season 2 taught us never to trust the scheming female VP as she might just assassinate the President. Based on comments by Hillary I wouldn't risk making her my successor if I was Obama

I'd love to see Obama/Biden ticket because that would cover the inexperience criticism. Plus, the only time Biden got in trouble was for his comments about Obama, otherwise he's solid. It'll probably be John Edwards as VP (young white guy to snag the white voters).

Please tell me none of you are voting for Obama. It has nothing to do with him being black.

His words have no really depth to them.

All he is offering is something different but I have never heard one word of solution.

He promised an end to racism but how?
He promises change but what?

There is no road map or plan all we have from him is empty promises.

Are you guys truthfully so ready for change that you will choose anyone who sounds good?

Also think about how many things he has done before he said he was going to run for president? What has he actually done for this country thus far? Was the reason he is running for president because of his accomplishments or because he is black? Just think about that before you put this nation in his hands.

every politician promises a lot of things and doesn't always come through with every single one of their promises. sure, there will be one here and there, but they can't do every single one of them....it's politics. it's always been like that.

and if you listen to his speaches on change, he never says "i will change," but rather, "we will change." implying that change can only happen if we as a nation desire the change to happen....at least that is how i am interpreting what he has been saying.

But I have never heard anything from his entire career where he has ever taken action or responsibility for actions. He's not even giving promises he is making broad statements that anyone can relate to but there is no substance. Other politicians have political accomplishments and they usually lay down a map of what they plan whether it happens or not.

Obama just makes broad statements and our imagination takes hold of them because we all hope for a better country.
