Banned Dutch movie about Islam "Fitna"
Saw a story about this on the news tonight and immediately went searching for it.
Apparently it caused quite the commotion and is wreaking havoc all over the internets!

On March 6 2008, the Dutch government raised its national terroristic threat level from the status 'limited terroristic threat' to 'substantial terroristic threat' because it fears Muslim terrorists will launch attacks against European targets, citing the film as justification

Pakistan YouTube ban
In February 2008, Pakistan internally banned Youtube for several days due to a video clip one report claimed to be a trailer for Fitna. Google eventually complied with the Pakistani protest and the material was removed. As a result of the block, Pakistan accidentally caused the YouTube site to be unavailable worldwide for two hours.

Liveleak.com removal
LiveLeak.com - Redefining the Media, where Wilders originally released the film, removed the video of the film from their servers following threats to their staff. They released the following statement on their website:
"Following threats to our staff of a very serious nature, and some ill informed reports from certain corners of the British media that could directly lead to the harm of some of our staff, Liveleak.com has been left with no other choice but to remove Fitna from our servers. This is a sad day for freedom of speech on the net but we have to place the safety and well being of our staff above all else."

Here's the English Youtube version of the film

I'm leaning towards not viewing it, but then I wouldn't know if it really is the home edited racist crap I hear it's supposed to be. Perhaps it blows over fairly soon so I don't have to...

I downloaded it but my pc decided to boycott it & every media player installed on my PC crashes when I try & open the file!!!! Only the dutch version would work.
The guy has taken a few lines from the Koran & left out important bits so it makes the book out to be something that it isn't. Someone has created a book of the full quotes before & after that are used in this film so you can compare the two together & see what's what. I haven't watched the film but have read the book in response to the movie.

It's not that bad, neither in presentation or racism. While I agree with the overall message that Islam is a major threat to freedom in Europe I think that movie is not the way to go about informing people of this. Europeans need to listen to Ayan Hirsi Ali (shown briefly in the film for death threats against her) instead of some guy with an agenda.
What I find interesting is the backlash by Muslims, they illustrate exactly why their beliefs are a threat to freedom by threatening the lives of anyone who criticizes their religion. That, to me, is more important than the stupid movie itself.

I'm hoping there were some lessons learned about international diplomacy after the denmark affair. The reactions so far seems to have been more in advance of the publication than now right after. No doubt some clergy in Iran an will raise some hell because that's the natural thing for them to do. Try kicking me in the balls and I'll probably react pretty fiercley too. Tell me in advance you're planning to do it and I'll be sure to try to stop it as well.

I will pretty much agree with everything in that video. Only the final message I cannot. The problem is that there is a group people followers of that religion, in my opinion, following it in the wrong way which is of the of violence, gaining and maintain superiority. And if anyone else believes they are or growing superior in some way (usually population or monetary). Kill them apparently Allah says, according to this documentry. I have asked my friends, some that have been forced to recite the Quran, and they do never mention this and actually tell me Jihad is a matter of defense not offense. In addition, religious leaders of Islam have mentioned similar things I am all for Islam, just not the extremists that capatilize on the part to grow through direct ruthless acts.
Basically that documentry showed that Islam believes it is the one religion and anyone else that does not obey should not live. In addition, in history hasn't Christianity and various others done this? Christians do it in an indirect way, such things as helping poor villages in Africa, feeding them and drawing them in to their religion through pretty much psychology. This disgusts Muslims because another religion is growing through such "sneaky" methods? I don't want to talk too much about this, I don't want to start an anti-Islam debate because I am a supporter of many of their components and arguments. In addition, being a Hindu many of them despise us and have killed our people in larger amounts than we have in the past. I don't even look at that as bias to me. It is what is right and wrong. But then in again, I live in a Christian state.
50/50 for me

Even democracy is misused the same way today. - Apply our version of it or we'll kill you. - Elect the wrong guy and we'll use it as an excuse to keep killing you just like before.

Here's the video response to Fitna movie
Link
It's by the Arab European League
There's examples of such verses in all the three books and if you take them out of their context, you'll end up with a false interpretation
Of course I don't support threatening people for hosting a movie (Fitna or whatever else) but I find the purpose of Fitna just plainly misleading (biase in the story). Showing extremists videos to explain a religion is simply stupid.

that's a stupid thing to say. Comparing this movie with someone kicking you in the balls is a gruesome exaggeration. It's like your little baby sister who thinks it's funny to slap you in the face. If you are a normal person, you let her and laugh. If you are one of those moslim extremist, you punch her in the face "because she slapped you too".
And as a Dutch person, I can't really say anything about the film. I saw some bits and pieces in the news and thought it funny as some people were even saying the "expected much worse and this kinda let them down", others say he is a shame to the dutch nation and whatnot.
I never saw the whole film, but about the things I did see I think he has some valid points. Of course it's not good to look at the thing outside of their context. But some of the things he brought to bare were legit concerns.
