I've few no problems with outsourcing of jobs or NAFTA, I'd love to see NAFTA expanded to provided even freerer trade.

But further policies like the EU have wouldn't work for a North American Union, the US has nearly 60% of the population of North America, so they would effectively be making all of the decisions.

The only scenario where I could see opinion in Canada running in favour of a closer (non-economic) political union with the United States would be if our economy tanked for a significant period of time, while the US economy remained strong. And that isn't likely to happen soon with our huge reservers of oil, and other resources.

I'm not american, but it seems to me he kept his country safe after 9/11 and, what most people forget, stopped the 2000 .com crysis in an amazingly short time. The rest of the time, he just fought democrats explaining the obvious: you can get out of Irak until that country can stand on its own. Of course people tend to disagree, despite having a similar example - Vietnam.

I find it odd that until Clinton, no one ever talked about what a President's 'legacy' was going to be. That was because Clinton himself is obscessed with his 'legacy'.

A president's legacy will be decided upon YEARS after he's left office, and after all of the effects of his decisions, and policies have taaken time to settle out. It will be decided thru the eyes of history, and not by a bunch of rabid (on both sides) partizans.

Now, IF i were a betting man, and thought I'd still be around in 20 years, I'd lay money in Vegas that he (using school grading) will be listed as a B+, or A-. Not a really great Prisident, but better than most.

@[hobo]eclipse I don't do 'drive-bye' posting. It's just that I've seen the way these threads go, and I've decided not to 'play' in them any more that I have to. You will also note that my original post in here turned out to be true. Wallow in your BDS*, but don't expect me to try to make counter-points to your ravings. My pappy once told me to never argue with idiots, because they will drag you down to their level, and then beat you with experience. I think I'll follow that advice now.

I don't argue politics or religion. The average American has no more to do with, or influence over what Bush and the government does than any of you do with your government.

What we do have regardless of government policies, industrialization, jobs, security, high standard of living, low cost (comparatively) computer parts, most powerful military the world has ever seen, good schools, great health care, fantastic women, freedom.

Bushes biggest legacy to Americans, debt, loss of freedoms, wars we didn't want. How will history see him? History has always been written by the victors and most powerful in any given time period, so he'll probably be remembered as the president that stood up to terrorism. After all if it were your country that got hit on 9/11 would they have done any different?

You definately are the most closed minded one sided person this forum has... And it's got a lot of them (then again, you're old so it's normal I guess).

If a person isn't ready to debate, well they obviously don't know anything substantial about the subject they are talking about.
