This story?
It appears "officials representing Saddam Hussein" physically withdrawed some 900M$... Doesn't say for what purpose. Maybe the guy planned to flee with four trucks of banknotes...
No word on the French bit, yet.

Do you really think that someone in the civilian world believes anything coming from the US government, or Rumsfeld in particular? It's just like that "heroic rescue" of one of your female soldiers. Lies, lies and more lies, fabricated from the beginning to the end.
Why don't you want the inspectors of the UN to handle this? Are you afraid of that they will come up with nothing?

Man, you are just too cool for anyone here in this forum, you clearly have a unique perception and a singular insight into the precise and finely tuned political machines that run all the respective nations in the "civilian world"....Gosh, I just don't know what to say anymore, your sooooo smart.....
I have a question for you......with your precognition, what is the fate of the United States, oh great GOG, what shall we do? I just don't know anymore....sniff
Here I am living this whole democratic lie, this terrible diabolical force that I am a component of, destroying worlds and nations, all for the satisfaction of a greedy few...
Looking through your lense...surely the end is near....what is there left to live for, when every single thing I see on television, hear in the news and learned from infancy is all just a fabrication....sigh....

1. Back off from the rest of the world and mind your own damn business.
2. A country with only two different parties to choose from and where 35% of the population don't give a damn is hardly a democracy.
3. The "rescue" of that female soldier was hardly the "heroic act" your President called it.

Were you referring to the military interventions and conflicts....or the war against world hunger and deprivation from wars of the other nations..?
Obviously your referring to the United States because actually over 35% percent of eligible voters missed the poles, and ironically 135.000 american service men and women didn't get their votes properly counted....I don't know about giving a damn, those eligible voters were probably in the streets whining about the war, perhaps if they voted, this would have never happened....as one roman senator remarked about the Emporer Comodus.......Rome is a mob....he gives them a show and they love him for it...the mob rules...
The United States government is a democracy, but americans are resting on their laurels for sure..
but what I think irritates europeans and americans alike is the way the media portrays american people. on one hand we are in search of the greatest diet, the greatest drug, and the fastest return on our investments, when a higher percentage of people are actually resting on their laurels and sucking of the teet of the fat cow or pig of government if you will......but then, that is all television, ha ha....I do not take it that seriously, I do not let televison transform my life like that...and I hope no else as well...
As for the rescue of Jessica Lynch...Let me say this: it wasn't just for Jessica Lynch, and lives were lost in the process on both sides, an IRAQI doctor, a healer risked death, the team that rescued her risk death every single day they are engaged in combat. and that young lady that now has amnesia, fired her weapon until all the ammunition was gone, and then fired her dead comrades weapons until her ammunition was exhausted. She fought and struggled until she could fight no more, and would have been left for dead except she had information that was useful for her captors. Officially we may never know what happened but it was a deadly firefight and her unit left lots of dead IRAQI soldiers piled up around the immediate area. Heroism? If you don't agree with Bush, so what, but that statement in and of itself requires a response....Unless you have ever displayed courage or performed a brave act in the face of overwhelming fire, or put yourself on the line for the ultimate success of your unit, to achieve an objective, and did this day after day until you were successful or were killed. and you did this because you volunteered to be apart of a military organization that is highly trained for a pitiful paycheck in the face of scorn of your own countries citizens that you swore to uphold and protect, for little more than a thankyou from your president..then you might just have an opinion....but I disagree....you don't know your own excrement from a hole in the ground.....

Neon cowpoke....Sweden is pretty damn democratic...that is why most swedes are more opionated than the french, ha ha ha....(I'm norwegian)
GOG will almost never understand...when has Sweden or it's military risked their political position in political musical chairs? They play it safe and are more damn conservative than they let on.....just read their constitution.....oh and I have...if GOG wants to argue that one...hmmmmmm...think not...
GOG does not know or embrace the constitution, the bill of rights and the declaration of independence...but shoot, he is swedish, their struggle began in the late 1500's and they kicked some butt during WW2 and Korea too, so maybe that was before his......time......therefore his perspective is limited to what he reads in the library or on television....like lots of americans..
As for the Jessica Lynch's rescue, I think anyone that has experience in performing acts of sacrifice and put your life on the line for benefit of the ciitizens or the United States or oppressed people anywhere, then perhaps that person or GOG, may not know his rectum from a hole in the ground, but then that was probably very vulgar....shame on me......

*Brings out the violine* Do you have any idea how many times your own country has thrown in vetos against UN-resolutions/proposals regarding human rights and world environmental rescue? But then again, what can you expect from a country where the inhabitants spend more money on cosmetic surgery than they give in human aid to the third world.

Yes, a great american hero, too bad they didn't teach her how to read a map. Another one of your heroes is the one who threw a live hand grenade in his commanding officer's tent. Your army is not "highly trained", it's disorganised and brutal. LOL, you even hit the wrong country four times with your high tech missiles, are these the same guys performing "surgical bombing"? Maybe I can't know my own excrement from a hole in the ground, but I sure as hell can see the difference between a 4-year old child and an enemy soldier.

I think they don't like the fact that we can do changes to our constitution. It's much better to live by something written in the 19th century, it's called development.

We also live in states which have individual constitutions. Texas' constitution is by far the most government limiting; they have to pass amendments to do almost anything. It's a cluttered mess (thousands of amendments) that's longer than Gone with the Wind, but it affectively prevents our state government from getting too out of hand. Our U.S. Constitution has not needed to be radically changed because of how well it was written two hundred years ago. It has been amended a number of times to update certain aspects, and I feel it will be amended again as technology gains more ground in our everyday lives. ( This nine year-old article comes to mind.... oh, keep its beginning quote close to you, it might come in handy later.)
Remember this: just because you have a piece of paper does not prove you have a constitutional (limited) government. Take Great Britian's constitution: it's unwritten! It is, in reality, its history, the collective common sense of the British people, and tradition.

you know what i always wondered... why people put down abbreviations like "EU" and then in parenthesies put down the whole thing... like (European Union) , doesnt that just destroy the reason behind the abbr. (Abbreviation)

Nothing wrong with the Swedish constitution, impressive, but I often wondered why there is no implied privacy, one has to declare his or her communication private right? I am impressed with the way Sweden walks the Nuclear tightrope embracing the most conservative approach to diplomacy

I don't think it is necessarily off topic, because a grasp of any countries laws and government is fundamental in debate regarding laws, whether it is an individual state, country or religion.

People do care I suppose, but it identifies some flexibility and an avenue for change.......good point.
As far as the French are concerned I would not be surprised at all. There is lots of money at stake here, and the French had a tremendous investment in Hussiens regime, long after we terminated our relations.
And GOG, if you really believe the English press, that is your right of course, I won't dispute your opinion except to say, that I have actually been in two wars, participated in campaigns that allowed me to achieve a perspective that you may not possess, and if I ever gave the BBC credit for anything, it was Alastair Cookes discertations on America. Some of the BBC's reporting is repugnant and sensational, and not worthy of anything by my passing interest.
