I appreciate the notion of joining to help defend the country and ourselves, but question some of the directions taken by top tier leadership. (of which the soldier has very very little say in) I do not believe in blind patriotism(simply because America is America or....."the government said" or..... "they said")

actually i feel bad for them, so many of them go because there is just nothing to do, they come from areas where the best jobs are grinding away at factories or some sort of small to moderate scale retail, hardly entertaining. Recruitment is mainly focused on areas like these, innercity and the direct urban enviroment around it. I've seen it first hand, coaching people through tutoring to improve on the 19 ASVB score to atleast reach 35 for general admittance, or the record high of 9000 moral waivers granted last year to grant admittance to the Armed Services to people who "normally" would not be, 60%+ higher than previous years. Pfff....and they wouldn't even give me a health waiver in 2003!

I love the guys/gals and know quite a few that are and have been.....over there. Just at this point, if I where there or had been, I personally would not feel very proud of our leadership, especially the stumbling, fumbling, tool of a character whoes gig is about to be up.

On the soldiers as a whole or the Armed Services, IT IS TIME TO COME HOME! Close some of the 300 military bases in 170 countries that maintaining is costing so much, and stop IMPOSING the will of the "United States", albeit Democratic, on the world.

As for the first sentence, that tells me that you aren't any different than the hippy scum that were calling me and my comrades in arms babykillers when it was WE, and the ones that came before us, and just as those serving now, were protecting their and your right to utter such balderdash.

As for the second second one...Maybe that's because he, like me, has been around long enough to 'have a clue', and we are able to see thru 'feel good bullshit'.

so what, now because you dont like my opinions you toss out a flame? nice work in the debate forum. seems that statment is rather emotionally charged there oldbuzzard, trumping facts that the forseeable future of the time period was grim.

but anyways, on with Ron Paul!

This is definatly a Ron Paul video. Good round up of his positions on some foriegn policy issues. Notice at Fox News' suposed '"fair and balenced" debate, after Dr. Paul's address starting at the 7 min mark there is a definate microphoned laughter. Wheather it be from a canidate on stage, one of the moderaters, or purposfulloy planted by Fox, does the position Ron Paul was explaining on a very relevant issue seem at all like a laughing matter to you?

hobo. your view of our armed forces is myopic at best. volunteering to defend our country is not a 'notion'. while buzzard went a little overboard with his assesment, he does have a core of truth.
nobody should take all that our military leaders say & do at face value. but to let these opinions reflect on our miltary as whole - wich your comment about our miltary bases shows you do as they are populated by our soldiers - is for want of a better word(& one that isnt derogatory), wrong.
maybe your respect instead of you 'feeling bad'(kinda condescending dont ya think) would be more appropriate. i am not saying you shouldnt feel bad for the position our troops are in, but that is not how you used it.
any body that says he is going t obecome president & immediatly/very quickly bring all our troops home is lying. & anybody that believes them is delusional.
unfortunatly, right or wrong, we have to continue to try & undo the mess we have created. wich means our troops(in what should be ever decreasing numbers over the next couple of years) continuing to be in harms way.
as far as paul goes, he isnt going to far, but it is good that you bring him to peoples attention so that we all know our options.

That was hardly a 'flame'. If I was really flaming you, you would be cowering under your bed whimpering "Mommy, make the bad man stop".

The laughter that you are complaining about was probably from somone that actually sees Ron Paul's positions for what they are. Something to laugh at, and dismissed as the ravings of a loon.

I hang at a couple of other political forums, and the PAULBOTS are almost as bad as the DU 'barking moonbats'.

There is only one other person seeking the position of POTUS that would be a bigger disaster than Ron Paul, and that is Dennis Kuscinich.

The total influence — economic, political, even spiritual — is felt in every city, every statehouse, every office of the federal government. We recognize the imperative need for this development. Yet we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. Our toil, resources and livelihood are all involved; so is the very structure of our society.

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals so that security and liberty may prosper together.

Reguardless, if you think Ron Paul is a LOON and laughable, then hey thats your opinion. Doesnt mean i agree, doesnt mean im not gonna tell you why i think your wrong, doesnt mean you have to listen, doesnt mean either are right. But to hear definate MICROPHONED laughter at a Presidential debate on a nationwide news broadcast from a supposed "Fair and Balanced" news medium is nothing other than bias. Fox news has a long record of this type of biased news coverage. Anyone wanting to know more about it and there ties to Current White House Administration should google OUTFOXED.

The fourth estate is under control, dig deeper, take everything from the TV with a grain af salt, see the big picture.

lib·er·ty [lib-er-tee]
–noun, plural

1. freedom from arbitrary or despotic government or control.
2. freedom from external or foreign rule; independence.
3. freedom from control, interference, obligation, restriction, hampering conditions, etc.; power or right of doing, thinking, speaking, etc., according to choice.

Cmon SFOSOK, it's his ideas. Have you had a look?

mike2h, please do not try and make it out like supporting the troops and being against occupying countries is out of the question. Notice I said closing some of the bases in my previous post. Having so many bases represent part of the fiscal problem.
