Let me guess...the first reason to boycott the 2008 Olympics was that it's boring?

Hey, I quite like olympics in general, they just need to trim out some of the useless "sports"... the equestrian events come first to mind.

I realize this is a political forum...just cant say anything political about Bush going to China...who cares? Pretty soon China will be the number one economic power in the world and the biggest polluter anyway.

lol, China is one of the main sources of money to US government budget in thees days. Yeah China has the majority of US bonds that are on the market now. And Mr. Alan Greenspan know how bad thing that might be.

Woot - I'll take it... anytime bush is out of *this* country, I breath a little easier.
But the olympics.... cant say I am interested in them - ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Maybe hockey - or downhill ski (freestyle or distance jumps in particular) - the rest is like a sleep aid to me. Summer events - I cant think of any I care to watch.
But... all the adverts drive me nuts. I say boycott Olympic sponsors - not the athletes, they're just doin what they love. Kill the 'commercialism' - not the sports/events.
Even the boring events - keep them - curb the adverts. Plenty money is made from admissions and concessions alone to keep the olympics 'financed'. I'd like to know whos pocketing all that ad $$$$.
Also - maybe bush will have some china seafood, or cough medicine, or pet food, or gnaw on a mattel toy, while he is there... woot!

I love George Bush, in fact, we need librarys and schools named after him. Are you a G Bush hater, Maddogg6? for all the inane and mindless rants about G Bush the fact remains that whether you voted or not in the USA, the democrats as well as the Republicans elected him, so enough whining from the left I say and get on with life. Dont be surprised when who ever runs this country again soon is more like a Republican that you most would care to admit....
and it sure as hell wont be Hillary..LOL

Lets see - hes < 20% approval. Even republicans hate his actions too. Some people will call a pres great solely because hes a pres - thats what I call an ass-kisser.
So why DO YOU love him anyway?
p.s. I'm not dem, rep, lib, con (no lables for me thank you) - I am a US citizen who cares about this country.
you can just as easily avoid anti-bush threads - but I understand - your bored - and no other thread to post in I suppose LOL.
I dont want hillery either -or obama not impressed by ANY candidates.

I think the olympics are a good form of easing tension between nations, I think that's their main function, even the useless sports lol.

To clear a few things up...
Greenspan is no longer chairman of the Fed, Ben S. Bernanke is.
There is no definition of "True American", thats the beauty of it.
China is not a dictatorship, its a Communist state, and thus ruled by a single political party. A dictatorship is ruled by a single person (a Dictator) with absolute power.
Alright, continue ranting...

I'd like to add to this...
The 'beauty' is in that we *are* allowed to disagree publicly with our leaders. Well - were supposed to be anyway... (re: Dan Rather on NBC questioning Bushed National Gurd service report)
Quote:
Dan Rather, whose career at CBS News ground to an inglorious end 15 months ago over his role in an unsubstantiated report questioning President George W. Bush's Vietnam-era National Guard service,...
He also contends that the network committed fraud by commissioning a "biased" and incomplete investigation of the flawed Guard broadcast in order to "pacify the White House."
|
From: Lawsuit by Rather says CBS made him a 'scapegoat' - International Herald Tribune
But - not in china either - so whatever they may 'call' their leadership organization... their leader(s) ideals and actions very closely parallel a dictatorship.
Can you say 'faux front'?
