Bush Commutes Libby's Sentence

It takes a lot to get me out of the News forum (as you guys probably know from the amount I post there). This just really ticks me off. I can't believe the U.S. (and I live there ... at least for now).

Why even have a justice system if Bush can sidestep it anytime he wishes.

Well, he's been sidestepping it since he got his "executive war powers" over the "war on terror". Which is a crock. If we try to say it's a war, then the executive war powers never end for ANY president and destroys the idea of a government which has different branches balancing themselves.

These include cocaine smugglers and armed bank robbers.

Every president has granted pardons, its nothing new.

Are you saying you can't tell the difference between random criminal pardons and pardoning a man who worked as chief of staff for the Vice President?

Maddogg6 will become famous soon enough

What pisses me off most is how little attention these things get from main stream media. To me, everyone expects a politician to act they way they do - but too many people think - if its not on CNN/MSNBC/FNN - it must not be worth knowing. To me the media is more treasonous and should burn on the same stake as the politicians.
But yeah - this stuff is just par for the course as president go.

Also on that list were Susan McDougal of Whitewater fame and Clinton's Brother, Roger.
Other famous pardons were Ford pardoning Richard Nixon and Bush Sr. pardoning Casper Weinberger. Also pardoned were George Steinbrenner and Jimmy Hoffa. Presidents have been pardoning white collar criminals since George Washington.

I would rather see pardons of officials who get caught in a political crossfire than violent criminals.

I am not surprised really, Libby is holding a trump card and everyone is going to have to play nice from now on. I dont see anything really news worthy in this except if Bush makes a habit of it, like some former democrats before him.
