Sony's stand on war (?)
Not entirely political, but because of the main subject, I thought it would be fun to discuss what good does a company like Sony do with an anti-war advertisement (found out thru 3DChipset.com ). What does a tech/media company gain in such advertisement and why would they create such an ad?

Maybe some higher up at Sony believes in the concept of the social responsibility of corporations...

That ad is excessively chessy, but at least somewhat entertaining.
To answer your question, while it is perfectly possible that some Sony higher-up is genuinely convinced that war with Iraq is unecessary, I think that Sony is probably just pandering to the vocal anti-war movement.

Smith and Wesson? The US military uses VERY little in term of S&W. At any rate, those companies aren't pandering -- they've always been hugely involved with defense.

Since no country has actively attacked the US in the past few years, I'd say they're hugely involved with offense...

Defense in a political context refers to military force. At any rate, I don't see what point you're trying to make there..

The point is that there's a lot of US corporate "military forces" whose budgets include the occasional war or 2.....

Well not being someone who is wholly anyi-War I think it is reprehensible to call people who do not agree with your position 'retards'. Mind you considering where it comes from I have a feeling you might be uniquely qualified to judge. This is the political debate forum and not the FW. Maybe if you want to start calling people names you should post your views there instead? Just a thought...

Whom is insulting whom? This is typical liberal type BS. Once you can't convince others of your BS logic you get all offended.
As I said b4. IF the USA invades Iraq and finds no WMD's. I'll admit I was way wrong and support Bush's impeachment.
If on the other hand they do find all this crap they have said for years that Iraq does have I think the rash of shit I will be shoveling out to you antiwar people will prob make you leave this site.
Will you be man enough to admit you were wrong?

ByteMe, the reason largely varies from person to person as far as anti-war proponents go -- people will find any reason to be contrarian. Not all anti-war proponents think Saddam doesn't have WMD -- they just don't want to fight to get rid of them (which, realistically, is the only way).
