The news sites are all stating that most of the people involved are british born rather than being immigrants (legal or otherwise) which is very difficult to understand. My understanding is that they weren't going to plant bombs in the US, the plan was to detonate the bombs in mid-air causing massive and inevitable loss of life.

My understanding is that the bombs were some sort of liquid base (nitroglycerin or some variant I presume) and were to be detonated in hand luggage. The flights that are taking off are allowing little or no hand luggage now and no liquids...

apparantly they 'revived' a 1995 plot to use liquid based explosive desguised as contact lense solution to blow planes up.
and yeah, all arrested so far are british citizens.

By destryoing planes in midair it makes 911 look like child's play? It was just a plot to do massmurder, nothing else and thankfully they were caught. But again, wtf is up with these people? Don't they see that it does NOTHING. Killing innocent people just makes people scared and hide, while goverments get stricter. How does that make them win?

They hate freedom. They hate freedom of religion, they hate women's rights, they hate any and all modern western societies.

They want to kill all of us, men women and children.. Just because they were born in the UK, or the US does not matter, they see themselves as Muslims first, citizens of their country second..
If they get sucked into an extremist terrorist group who brainwash them into thinking their religion wants them do kill people.. they become a terrorist.

All the people here that I have heard say terrorism doesn't exist and the fight against it is a farce, I guess you have been proven wrong once again.

Its fear. Terrorism doesn’t actually do much damage compared to other forms of warfare, its a form of mental war. They are trying to convince us that it could happen anywhere… even to us and we would not be able to stop it.

It is an attack on our western values and lifestyle. Implementing measure that have a possibility of stopping terrorism erodes those values and as soon as we loose those we have lost.

Okay, to intorduce fear is one thing... But what does it change? Its not as if people will stop flying. Or stop takinig subways. Or stop anything in their normal lives. Security is getting tightened everywhere and all in all, they are making their lives worse for THEIR people.

Once the terrorists start getting a handle on nuclear and biological weapons, and find out how to deliver one and set one off somewhere... then we'll see how much it affects all of our freedoms.

Right now we are all just inconvenienced but still really have all of our rights and freedoms basically intact.. After something like that happens, I'm not so sure we will retain our freedoms and basic rights.

Some freedoms are gone already... Patriot Act for hte US... And now in the UK, no more drinks on planes and all (in handbagage). These are tiny things but they add up...

) so that's nothing I'd worry too much about. The car to human ratio is way lower than the US

And they'd never do that since oil is their source of money... for some of them. And if they want to inject fear, blowing up oil won't scare people (it should but life is worth more than oil) so it'd be just sabatoge, not terrorism.

A lot of white young men of Christian faith have turned to muslim relegion. Can't see the fascination, but this is what I saw on one of the blogs. That's not looking very hard... Each religion offers its story and its way of proving that it is the right path. Some believe it, some don't.

Christians believe in Adam and Eve in a garden... Muslims in a prophet being told the words of god. Each mostly wish for peace and freedom. Unless you take the words in an extremist fashion (both christians and muslims)

I've watched every ww2 docu/film going, and there are scary similarities between the modern day terrorists and the Nazi movement.
