If they dont care about 4 UN peace keepers how much do you think your own death would bother them ?,apart from the hundreds of dead civillians(their just collateral damage right?,fair targets if you need to kill a terrorist,?,infact what is a terrorist because I cant see any difference )Hezbolah is a malitia that was formed to force isreal to leave lebanon when they were under occupation from Isreal in 1982.They helped force Isreal to leave by the year 2000.The taking of 2 soldiers is a response to the killing in gaza of many people and its all related to he general escalating problems in the middle east.

All the while we are supporting the deaths of innocent people throughout the middle east through our goverments.
This is all going to spiral out of control,the more we in the west are perseved to be supporting Isreal in the killing of Arab civillians the more we will become targets ourself,all this and Iraq,Afghanistan.

allthrough, it would be amusing to argue about it, just think about what our goverments are doing for us?,for whos' benifit is their policy?.Someone once said "the people get the goverment they deserve?".
I dont mean what I write to be critical of any one person,I think our whole attitude needs to change for there to be any progress on peace in the middle east.- yeah .all these anti-war threads are getting a bit boring,I still find it gets me annoyed when i see on the tv more and more people suffering,I had decided I was going to stop watching tv because its all pretty negative stuff anyway,but still find myself watching the news ,when im eating my tea!.

The THREAT of vilolence is why you aren't speaking Russian right now.

Violence is and has always been at times necessary. Not only in the affairs of nations, but even in a personal sence. There are times when the OTHER nation or person will FORCE you to be violent to protect your own well being.

What would you do if a person came into your home, and decided that he wanted your possessions more that you do. Maybe he likes your wife too, and decides to rape her. Are you going to follow your 'never solved anything' statement, or are you going to use violence to prevent it?

Let's assume that for one reason or another an anti-British group forms and they are based in France. Let's suppose the France does nothing to stop them, and they start lobbing in missles from Normandy. British civilians are the target, and many are killed. What is your response? Do you just ignore it and refuse to do anything about it because 'violence never solved anything', or do you send in military forces to stop it?

'Violence never solved anything' is a nice 'feel good' statement, but it's also a very naive one.

Yes, in the natural world violence and aggression can be an attribute to help survival,but people use it in a different way.We should be able to learn how to solve things in a different way.

I am glad of the sacrafice that our ancestors made to save us from hitler,my grandfather fought at d-day on the beaches of france and behind enemy lines.
There is a difference between self-defence and oppression.

If a man was trying to kill me I would try to kill him first,I wouldnt just say " Im going to turn the other cheek and die",but that would be a question of survival.
The wars we are involved in at the moment are for our stategic objectives and helping our friends suppress the people that we consider our enermies.

All I am saying is that all this is going to backfire, all violence in the end is counterproductive and continues in a cycle, which in time will return to the source from where it came. We should be giving people a better example if we expect poeple to trust in democracy.

I do not consider anyone my enemy,not personally.
All a country is, is a collection of people.There is only one Law 'Do to others as you would have done to you'.
I dont have a real spritual problem with violence ,I wish we in the west could learn to be less selfish in all things.

There's nothing wrong with expressing your views, even though they may be a tad naive. OldBuzzard has a point in what he says above. Violence can solve some things, and the old adage is that you reap what you sow.

Hezbo launched missiles at Israel. Lebanon can't keep that from happening. Israek is well within their rights to remove that threat to their territory.
