Lebanon Israel Conflict
What do you guys think about it?
Should the US tie Israel's hands or let them kick the crap out of the Hezbollah?

I think that UN should send peacekeepers there to disarm Hezbollah. If Hezbollah don’t agree to disarm itself peacekeepers will withdraw and give Israel free hands to deal Hezbollah.

Well they did have two of their soldiers kidnapped. I think they are well in their rights to blow them to kingdom come.

I assume you mean Hezbollah?? Most of the causalities are civilians…
If Hezbollah leaders were smart they would free the two solders. But politicks in that region isn’t so simple. And the ring of revenge is spinning 24/7. So when Hezbollah strikes Israeli retaliates and so on…

The U.S. is not holding Israel back at all, in fact counter-battery artillery fire and air strikes are currently penetrating deep into Lebanon at this time and along the border with Syria. A resolution that was proposed years ago to create a buffer zone and disarming the Hezbollah is being considered by the Israelis as well as the Arab Nations. Israel has tremendous resolve in this matter and will ultimately prevail, the great firestorm of missles has not occurred yet, but is predicted soon. Without resupply from Syria or other Arab nations the finite number of weaponry would be exhausted soon.
I agree that U.S. policy might influence the actions of Israel because we obviously have supplied and defended them in the past but historically we wait for Israel to play all their cards.
I give this entire situation two weeks to evolve and see if Syria and Lebanon will willingly participate in peace negotiations, because at present they can stop the Hezbollah either.

Can't say I blame Israel for their actions, although I think it may be counterproductive in the long run. Lebanon for the first time was beginning to take a more active government stance against the influence of Syria. However, Lebanon's ability to limit Hezbollah's militant wing will take a lot of time. I'm afraid that the Israeli action will only aid Syria and, by proxy, Iran because it will push Lebanese public opinion in that direction.
Wait and see I guess.

Israels bombardment of Lebanon is a total over reaction and I suspect their motives go far beyond recovering the two soldiers.
Two soldiers being kidnapped does not justify the invasion of a country and bombing of civilian infrastructure. Most of the people killed by Israel in this current conflict have not been terrorists but civilians. Im not saying some action was not justified but this campaign goes to far.
Has anyone else noticed Israel citing Lebanons failure to abide by UN resolutions as justification for their actions?

lol, I know I know. But its the truth. What would you do if people have been bombing and killing your people for years? Wait for somebody attack and then blow them off the face of the map.

How do the Lebanese feel?
They have been building their economy up for years after a civil war and Israeli and Syrian domination. Now Israel has decided to bomb it back 20 years. Compared to other countries in the region Lebanon was democratic, secular and making significant progress.
Im not saying all the blame lies with Israel or that thy weren’t provoked by the actions of Hezbollah but this is a total over reaction.

and go to the negotiations table
The Funny thing is that Mr Bush instead of beeing a Peacekeeper is mostly with Israel side...
"Israel must defend themselfs"
Nice speech Mr Bush you are helping a lot, at least you let the rest of the world know where your interests are...

This is not between Lebanon and Israel; this is between a terrorist group and Israel.
The Lebanese PM has already called for an end to the violence. Neither Israel not Hezbollah wants one.

Is the Hezbolla launching 1000+ missiles into Israel enough of a reason?
Anyway...
This is definitely more than Just Israel and Hezbolla though.. That is why this is such a huge story. This conflict has much farther reaching influence.
Iran and Syria support the Hezbollah actions, Iran says they want to annihilate Israel.. hello?
If terrorists attack Israel they should blow them off the map, at least enough to disarm them. If the terrorist hide within civilians, the civilians had better get out of the way for the time being. They and their government are the ones that allow Hezbollah to exist there.

true statement, this conflict represents the struggle of Israel and the Arab world. Given the chance, even our Arab allies might try to eliminate the power of the Jewish state.

Which is something I will never understand.
I also can't understand how a leader of a country who is developing nukes can say he wants to destroy another country and expect to survive very long. He is just pounding the nails into his own coffin. If I were Israel I would be fighting too.. for my own survival. You cannot compromise with people who don't think you deserve to exist.

Of course they do and from big brother. The US. Israel also has probably the best millitary, air force, special forces in the world. It is probably the only country I would not want to f with if I was in the Army. Their soldiers are highly trained and have lived and breathed terrorism and war.

They need them.. Also they don't threaten to destroy other countries..
I've heard so many arguments why Israel should back off and make deals with Islamic fundamentalist terrorists that want nothing more than to destroy them for who they are, not one of them makes any sense.
It seems like it's all gonna happen no matter what. You want history of the middle east? Read the Bible, you want the future? Read the same book. Scary sometimes how some of the things in there are happening. iT'S NOT GOING TO BE PRETTY FOR THE the next 25 years..

Israel has BIG military industry. Basically they buy airframes and ship frames from free market and put their own stuff in them. So they have superior systems compared Arabs. I read some where that in air combat Israel Air Force defeated USAF…
