??? temp oc'ing ???

OK, I dunno much about over-clocking. I'm just curious . . .

Is there any software that lets you overclock from Windows and do it temporarily, like until you reboot/shutdown?

Yeah.

RivaTuner will do it to either ATI or nVidia cards, or coolbits for nVidia and powerstrip or somthing for ATI.

Or for the CPU, utilities in the "SoftFSB" mould.

Take care NOT to set soft-overclock tools to run automatically at startup, or you may create an auto-crasher if your settings are on the stability borderline!

Some motherboards also have a soft-overclock tool - eg. MSI's "Fuzzy Logic", Gigabyte's "EazyTune" - I'm sure there's more.

Not all tools are applicable to all motherboards - the pre-requisite for "SoftFSB" type tools is a clock generator which can be dynamically programmed - and ONLY FSB adjustment is possible.

An additional requirement is that the chipset/RAM and any other derived clock speeds (eg. AGP, PCI and IDE timings) do not exceed tolerable limits.

Doh!

Than softFSB is probably your best best. If it supports you mobo, you're good to go with that utility. (It's a nice little util, 'specially for playing around and finding your systems limits. )
