OC'ing problems with my new setup.
it seems no matter what i want to do i go nowhere. video card(BBA X800XL) wont OC cuz no programs can tell what it is. Everytime i try and oc the processor it locks up. i tried from the bios and using the NF4 version of clockgen. neither will work for me. any suggestions? oh, i am also using watercooling and temps look great. 22C idle and 26C load.
specs are as follows:
3500+ 90nm
DFI NF4 SLI-DR
1gb Samsung DDR 400(i have had these 2 sticks @230FSB before with 2.5-3-3-8 timmings)
1 200GB Maxtor DM 9 S-ATA
X800XL from ATI
Win XP Pro
Enermax 600W eg701ax-ve (supports SLI if needed)
not sure whats wrong, Help!!!! Please

What do you mean when you say "no programs can tell what it is" ?
Do you mean that the software doesn't recognize your card, which I'm guessing it because it is fairly new to the market? Have you tried ATI Tool?
As far as the Processor OCing is concerned, what multiplier/ratio have you tried? Does it boot? When you do get a change, are you able to go into the BiOS and monitor heat readings?

on the video card, yeah, ati tool dont work, it doesnt recognize it. neither do anyother ones i tried.
well i cant say much about multiplier changing. its locked. all i can do is up the fsb. this processor is stock @ 11x200. i tried moving the FSB up and moved the V up and nothing happens but a crash going nito windows. In BIOS right now it says the processor was at 14C when i booted up this morning.

I know you have a beefy PSU but what are the rail readings?
Have you tried a fresh OS?
is it rebooting randomly?
What voltage to the CPU?
Tried any new bioses for the mobo?

how high exactly can you push it before it craps out?
can you raise it any at all on stock volts without it dying?

i get 12.03V on 12V rail
3.32V on the 3.3V
5.18V on the 5V rail
my core V is at 1.4V
this is a fresh install of XP Pro. everything seems to run perfectly. just no OC. the BIOS i didn't check into. let me get back to you on that one Z.

Hey, ati tool works on my 800xl. On radlinker its a mess though. Heard about that problem but it works with me. Read a test in a Danish computer site where they had your problem. The tester found a software that found the card and overclocked it. I cant remember the name of that oc software and cant find that site again, sry. But its pretty comon software and Ive had it installed twice. (remember the layout,, lots of yellow colours, and some striped colours in the logo who looks something like the german flag )
I didnt manage to get a very high speed, but it works. Gave me 600+ in 3dmark 2005.

You might of done that before, but it's just s suggestion.
1. Have you checked that the memory that you are using figures at least on some compability list from the mainboard manufacturer.
2. Have you tested your RAM on your system and on another system, to see if RAM or memory circuitry on the board being dubious, or generating memtest errors when another board does not ? Maybe just a mem timing. Like manual FSB but with auto SPD etc...
Ive had issues in the past were I though board was problem, only to find out that my HDD was operating with a faulty X/on x/off issue or somthing tothat effect, basically a bad or overheated chip and my board had mem timming settings set to auto in the BIOS on an OC's CPU.
Try experimenting with cool & quiet on or off.
Let us know, hope it works out fine soon !

well i tried evverything u mentioned. still no workie. can't get past 207FSB for anything. i tried upping the timmings on the RAM to 3-4-4-8 and even set the cpu/fsb to 4/3 and still nothing. i turned cool and quiet on and off. i couldnt find a memory compatability sheet on dfi's website. this samsung RAM was tested in memtest just fine. its been used before in another system and could get to 230FSB at default timmings. maybe this board dont like the memory for some reason.
