System Specs

Overclocking a p4 2.4ghz....

Hi!!
A friend of mine have a P4 2.4 on a MSI 648 MAX mobo 2X256 mb apacer pc2700 memory....and he have all this in a Vapochill case ....he have no prior experience in overclocking and i have'nt owned a intel the last five years so i have not a clue what this 1:1 ,5:3 ratios meens....we upped the fsp to 114fsb @ 5:3 ratio and the bios reports 2.73ghz but windows only reports approx 2.44 ghz....we also tried 2.83 ghz..(don't remember the exact fsb) but the comp. wasn't stable @ that speed...pretty wierd since it's vapochilled.. and he gets prett poor results in sandra membench to.....
So i was hoping that any of you fine gents could educate me in the art of overclocking a p4.....some hints would be greatly appreciated...

5:3 ratio is memory speed, most likely you are running you memory too fast, which is limiting your overclocking capabilities. Try going to a 1:1 ratio.

What thing in windows is "reporting" the clockspeed? It may be wrong. Use WINCPUID or Sisoft Sandra to find out. If it's reporting lower frequencies than the BIOS says, it's throttling itself, which means your cooling apparatus isn't functioning properly/not connected properly.
