Sound issues when overclocking

i have a bfg 6800 gt oc, and an audigy 2 zs sound card in my p4 system. i have noticed that in some games when i over clock my 6800 (from 375/1ghz stock) to 420/1.11ghz, a strange "popping" sound occurs. now, i am 90% sure that the ocing causes the problem (because setting to default/decreasing the oc stops it)-what i want to know is why this is so? my card never gets above 60 degrees core under load (w/ as5 and NV silencer), so i don't think its a heat issue. btw, the game in question is prince of persia: warrior within. thanks for the help/conjecture.

Look for PCI/AGP latency in the bios, try 64 or 128 clocks instead of the default 32
