Idiots guide to overclocking? heh

Hi again everyone.

So I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good overclocking guide for someone that's never done it before. Pretty much iam looking for a nice step by step one with deep explanation as to why this should be set to this, etc... Ive never bothered to overclock before even though Ive pretty much bought and installed all the fancy stuff for it lol (always afraid I may break it but hey...can always replace it I suppose lol) So if anyone has a suggestion Id be very greatful (also overheating dosent seem to be an issues, as it stands now with my fancy thermaltake case the max ive seen by cpu was around 42c, etc... after about 6-7 hours of EQ2..and my videocard..I give up trying to figure out whats up with my temp sensor on that one lol..coolbits apparently says I dont have one yet the gigabyte thing reads the same numbers regardless of coolbits overclock..to say the least I smacked myself for getting a Nvidia card when I knew I shouldnt have lol oh well...)

Anyways enough of my ramblings lol, Thanks in advanced fellas.

AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3000+
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum motherboard
Samsung 1gb (2x512) PC/3200 400Mhz DDR RAM
Gigabyte Geforce 6800 GT 256MB GDDR3 AGP w/ DVI, TV-Out

OCZ 450W ModStream Power Supply
Tsunami Dream Tower, Black w/ Window

Also have another question about the way my system takes in and expels air. As it is right now the fan on the front of the case / window is currently intake along with my PSW. The fan on the back of the case along with a VGA fan that is behind my videocard is blowing air out.

Would it be a bad idea to switch it around so the fan on the back / PSW /Window blow air in and the front blow hot air out?

Drakon will become famous soon enough

No, leave the fans as they are. The front and side fans should be intakes and the rear should be exhaust.

there really is no ONE way to overclock all overclockers OC their own way well if you want tips i would say start slow, dont jump the speed up to fast. i say put the momory at a 5:4 ratio and slowly increase the HTT by 5/10 or so untill nstable. also KNOW WHERE YOU CMOS JUMPER IS! if you OC to high or set something wrong you need to reset the CMOS try OCing at stock Vcore untill its unstable then continue uping the Vcore alittle along with HTT (**dont bring the Vcore to high or it will fry your CPU**)
