Watercooled dualie
I was looking at getting a nice Opteron dual system with Latest Raedon graphics card. However I want the system to be silent. Is there any chance that a passive/silent watercooling system will handle that amount of heat? Also temperature get up to 42 degrees Celcius in summer around my place. So I can't have it dying at that sort of ambient air temp.
Any ideas?

most likely NOT!
I think the Zalman is the only passive one really and THAT has trouble keeping up with aircooling alot of times. That is just for one processor.
take heart though...most water cooling systems are VERY quiet.

ya dont count on passive but if you get a big black ice pro (extreme needs more cfm) you could get a really quiet system (7v fans) and cool all of the blocks very easily

having a quiet computer is quite easy. silent is very difficult. I am using a chevette heatercore as my radiator, with a Sanyo Denki fan running @ 7V, and it decent job, of cooling and is quite quiet.
btw if your looking for a quite pump I'd look into a Swifty MCP350.

That must be unbearable... I'd consider investing in an air conditioner instead of more computer hardware.

swiftech mkaes dual Xeon water cooling kits, I don't know about opterons.
And well, I have dual xeons and can safely say I'd not trade them in for anything labeled an "opteron" anyhow

I'm really interested in knowing what specs you're planning for this system.

If you are thinking of a kit as opposed to DIY, you might want to take a look at the new Koolance Exos 2: http://www.koolance.com/shop/product...roducts_id=190
It uses larger tubing than the original Exos, and 2 x 120 mm fans as opposed to the 3 x 80's that the original has.
