Needa Help overclocking Overclocking AMD Sempron 2600+ but in Bios it says it's a AMD Athlon XP, which i dont think it is because when i bought it was a AMD Sempron at 1.80 or 1.83 GHz. I overclocked it to a 2.14 GHz. Using SIS 741GX-M. I wondering how to overclock higher. I am sure i have the recommended heating because average CPU temp is arond 29-35 C. Is there a way i can download a modded 741GX-M bios or do i have to use jumpers TO overclock. I have about 12 fans.. and Air flow is great!
If you have the ECS 741GX-M motherboard then it might be worth having a good look in the forum on www.ocworkbench.com as there are some BIOS modders there. I know the ECS motherboards can be short on overclocking settings but sometimes a mod can be able to improve things a little.
the default speed of the sempron2600+ is 1.833 ghz i have one on a asus a7n8x deluxe mobo with corsair ram and the multi is locked on it as far as i know there is no way around it .. got my FSB @209 2.3 ghz stable as can be but on your board you might need to get a pci/agp lock if you want to overclock it i had to take the vcore up to 1.85 for it to be stable but i run water cooling it doesnt get over 42c under load nforce chipset has a automatic pci bus lock so that might be the reason you cant get it stable
