it is still faster than my 2.4 @ 3.0+ but not as fast as i want it to be.
bty i think you should change your sig to a lower speed
well, first of all, what are your complete specs? you say 3.2d, which intel CPU is that specifically (478 prescott [those are actually p4 e], 775 5x0 series, or 775 6x0 series)? secondly, when you OC your rig, how high do you to take it, and what voltages do you give it at it's max stable OC? Voltage flux will always happen, having a good PSU you can take voltages higher and not worry about your system randomly shutting off because the voltage went too high and your PSU couldn't handle the voltages (this happened to me when i was OCing back when i had my Enermax 485watt PSU. Problem was solved when i got my OCZ PowerStream PSU). As of temps, 60C is no problem as CPUs are inted to take heat as high as 80C before heat becomes a critical issue. Also, have you tried to OC with two sticks or even just one stick of RAM? Having so many sticks of RAM does degrade the highest possible OC your system can take because your MoBo has to feed voltages to all four memory modules. Lastly......what speed do you want me to put in my sig , 4Ghz too fast for you ?

You're going to be even more unhappy Mike. When I was running my 3.0e I had similar ram to you, but it was the 4400 version. Solid @ 3.5GHz 24/7. However, changed from an Antec 480 True Blue to a PC Power Cooling 510 DLX. Which I believed helped out quite a bit.

Sorry....the local OCZ Guru is slipping a little
The PC3500 GX Gamer is the higher rated BH die chips...I don't know if you will get 220, but since its rated at 217, it shouldn't be tooo hard, although they don't run as well on Intel as they do on AMD...you might have to be 2.5-2-2-x or 2-3-2-x. If you can get say 240-250 with 2-3-2-x then that will beat 2-2-2 at 220.

it is a moot point now. my 3.2 will not clock past 3.4 & give me the solid stabilty i require(at least 2hrs of p95 after running pi to 32 mill places). fortunatley for me asus has partially unlocked the clock multiplier in their newer bios. this gives me my measly 3.4 but with a 243 fsb! so i will be keeping my mem. it is running at 3-4-4-5 which i am quite happy with.
thx for the info though!

true, but having a slower clock speed, but a high FSB, i could have better stability. for example, when i run 250FSB @ 4Ghz, my system isn't game stable, but if i were to run 250FSB @ 3.6Ghz, it would be rock solid. And if i were able to do this, then i could probably run at like 275FSB @ like 3.92Ghz perfectly fine as well .

well if that is not a stable spec why do you give it in your sig? my 3.2 will run stable at 3.6/250fsb for all normal uses & any game that is not demanding. but since it does have issues it is not a viable speed. therefore not 'official'. jmo.
what is your highest oc that is stable & 1:1? is the mem limiting you on your fsb?

it's not my ram that is the limiting factor, it is my CPU. I'd love to put my scottie on vapo-chill.

the highest most stable OC i can get is 3.92Ghz (248FSB)

nope, my board not there. They have the MAX3, but not the IC7-G nor the IC7. But if you go to ABIT's website for support on the IC7-G/IC7, the drivers and whatnot are no the there.

EDIT:

I just checked again, and the support is there. I guess that they had some problems with their server(s)

http://www.abit-usa.com/products/mb/...ries=1&model=4

EDIT 2:

they don't have any driver support. you get a message that says

what is the diff between max 2 &3? i would try that(max3) bios out. just make sure you back it up 1st. & it does have the multiplier unlocker
anyway, you should be able to find what you need in above forum.

well, the difference between the max 2 and max 3 is that the max 3 is truly legacy free (no ps/2, serial, parallel ports), and it has a total of 6 SATA ports (2 primary and 4 on RAID controllers). Oh, and the max 3 has an OTES fan .

oh yea.....and i was looking up some info on my MoBo, and one of the BIOSes did unlock the multiplier on "some retail p4 prescotts". So i guess for me to have the unlocked multiplier, i must have a retail one (mine was OEM), and it will only be true for some of those retail scotties =\.

well i think you should go through that forum link & check it out. i have not read anything in there but some of the subjects look right up your ally.
though i saw somewhere that only specific rev(mine is co) have the 'partial unlock' ability.
i keep mine at 3.4/243 all the time.
