I would try both (260 x 10 and 289 x 9) and benchmark them. Just pick the fastest one for your application.

i meant with the ram. i can run 289 x 9 with ram @ 236.5Mhz
i'm not sure if i can run 260 x 10 @ 260Mhz.
i dont know my A8N-E will do it, the sticks @ 236.5Mhz are 3-3-3-8-1T
while running at 260Mhz i will have to run it 2T and probably losen the timings... what would be better, or is that something i just have to try?

Quick question as I can't seem to find it with my search-fu:
I am awaiting an RMA return on a 2GB kit of Platinum Rev 2 EL PC2-6400. I will be ordering an ASUS P5B-Deluxe. Will there be any issues with compatability? I have an E6300 and plan on doing some oc'ing once they all come together.

You should have no compatibilty issues that I'm aware of.

It really it depends on your board, CPU and memory, so you have to test for yourself to know for sure.

thanks for the quick response.
Typically, what kind of speeds can I expect from that specific RAM. And, yes, I understand that not all RAM is identical.

OCZ4002048ELDCPE-K
DFI nF4 SLI-D (04/06 BIOS)
Athlon X2 3800+ Manchester (E4 revision)
I currently have one of the above kits. If I were to order another of the same kit, should I be able to switch from 1T to 2T, and keep running at 200 MHz?

Hello, on the DFI SLI-D board you should be able to switch to 2t and stay running at 200mhz. I have done this many times in my personal rig when running 4gb.
The memory does have to match when running 2 kits, so be careful that the SPD timings and part numbers are the same.

what if it were the same part number and everything, but the revision number were different?

increase the FSB by about 5Mhz at a time, run pc mark 05 a few times, and once it's no longer stable, increase the voltage about 0.05v and do it all over again until your CPU/system is no longer stable at all.
i was able to reach 4Ghz on my 3.2e w/my old Corsair RAM. haven't tried OCing w/my new OCZ RAM yet though.

"CDs" gave you som great advice. Leave your CPU voltages where they are and and change your memory (DDR) voltage to 2.7v - 2.8v. Always start low on voltage and then try higher and see if that helps. if not go back to 2.7v. Then do what he says.

auto will give you voltage defaults for your RAM, CPU, and any other devices you have set to "Auto". you have to change those devices to manual/expert to get all those options.

Right! If you bought a boxed CPU and still have the box, the voltage will be marked on it. The 3.4e Prescott CPUs are 1.4v, but they often varied +/- .025v.

i thought all scotties were 1.3v? At least mine is. And i don't think that a 200Mhz difference between his and mine will be a significant amount of clock speed to compensate for an extra 0.1v. But meh, i could be wrong though. I'll have to check when i get home.

My 3.4 Prescott was 1.4v. The definately varied the voltages over time with different batches, steppings and speeds.

hello
I don't remember... I have this MOBO with prescott for couple years Only VC is new and now memory, but they arrive tomorow. my older one was OCZ ELDDR PC 4400 Gold 2x 512 dual channel, but they gave out.. my old overclock with those memories was 265FSB. I have unlocked multi player so was easy to get that high with auto V-core setting. Now I am getting new ones because my older one doesn't exist anymore. so I don't think they are that good, like my old one. In this time I try to OC my computer best as possible. so I need help because I'm not so good in overclocking . I'm going to look tomorrow after they arrive if my processor is D0 stepping. What I've read so far 1.4 is default and safe over OC is 1.55 (1.252 is probably what I'll try to use) so I'm going to be calling for help again. alot of setting'

so, you got 265 FSB and you don't know how to overclock? you sure about that? lol. Not only that, but the scotties don't have an unlocked multiplier. maybe some of the last made EE chips, but even there i'm not too certain.
If your OC speeds aren't holding up to what they used to w/your new RAM, it's because of that. They're not the same. a large part of OCing, is depenant on the RAM you have.
now, question, was that 265 FSB at the 1:1 ratio? or was it something else like 5:4, 3:4, 4:3, etc.?
