thats not the point, the point is that the fan grill is not very aerodynamically designed so the air going through it is going to make a large amount of noise just by going through it. its not a vibration issue and a little space really wont do a thing
I'll have to give it a try and see what it is like with and without I suppose, the spacing I was looking at was about 3/16" to allow air flow from between it and the fan body itself, I had not even concerned myself with vibration. Would rounding the outside of it and just leaving tabs or ears for the mount holes be what you are talking about? I was looking to be original at least in the design and the other intake fans sound fine with the grills I fashioned in the checkerplate. My GFX card is out for RMA due to issues I had prior to making this case but I did install a complete system and run it less any decorative grills on the inside exhaust fans. Between the 4 x 120mm intakes and 2 x 90mm plus 2 x 120mm exhaust fans I found it was possible with the fan controllers to more then amply cool things while gaming and have it at a level of sound that was quite acceptable to me with it sitting right next to me on the desk.

I looked at many different grills available for purchase as well and can honestly say that there are a lot that seem not to have a thought as far as aerodynamics is concerned in their designs.

I must admit that I have little experience with grills on the intake side of fans other then a couple that came with CPU coolers or those I fashioned on this case for intakes though and am wondering if you have experience with different ones which you found to be a major issue?

One thing you can do, is smooth out the edges of it so there is no sharp edges for less resistance. That would be about the only thing I could recommend, usually grills like that have rough edges, and are uneven and cause alot of noise.

Well the edges were already all slightly rounded wetsanding with strips of 400 grit then 600 grit and finished with a very fine grit aluminum polish, guess it is hard to tell in my poor quality pic.

I spent like an hour trying different methods of running the cables, i can't exactly take a drill to this case since i'm not handy with em not to mention not having one around
And i honestly can't run any behind the drive bays because they're right up against the side panel, eh well. tried keeping em just down the side of the mobo tray for now anyway. Might have a look at one of those modular PSU's so i don't have to molex everything anymore

Back in January I awoke to find my computer off. I opened it up and saw a tube on my radiator had popped off. I don't know how long it ran without water but the motherboard was killed in the process. Fast forward to last week. I go to install my new mobo, and I decide to clean my waterblocks out. I go to open my VGA block and i can't I had to pry it open. This is the result

That area should be flat, it melted right into the pins on the waterblock which is why it looks like that. Now the thing is, Delrin melts generally at temps north of 120C, so how my videocard survived is beyond me.

yea, i can probably use it as is, and install it on a PVC pipe and overdrive the LEDs to double their rated specs on liquid.

maybe i can use the Delrin for something too.

i need an LED system to light up a fish pond, while i cant stick them to that, i can probably use UV-A LEDs on them.

good copper is hard to get too...

so if its scrap then id get it

These are the ones you want for case fans, the NF-P12 is really made to be mounted on a CPU cooler where the air will be forced against or through something.

IMO those fans are garbage. I had one that came with my Noctua NH-U12 and after using it for a few weeks it sat in the closet for ever afterwards, as my $2.99 Yate Loons out performed it while being quieter.
