To clarify, an entry level Core2Duo is an "Allendale" which is the E6300 and E6400, which doesnt stomp all over any current AMD, though it does beat 90% of AMD with exceptions of FX60, FX62. Now "Conroe" on the other hand which is E6600, E6700, X6800 do stomp anything AMD has to offer.
And Quadcore is a different ballgame so no need to elaborate
But yes Intel is making some damn good chips right now (thats why I own 5 of them haha)

the allendale is the E4xxx cpu, the conroes are the E6xxx

E6300 + E6400 are still 'allendales' per say. They still have 2MB of cache disabled on them.

lol. it is physically impossible to enable those cache otherwise some brainy modder would have enabled them somehow if possible. and i doubt they have 2mb of cache sitting there for no reason

All the Allendales released up until the E4*00 actually had 4mb of cache on die, but 2mb of is either damaged/disabled.

The lower end E6300 (1.86 GHz) and E6400 (2.13 GHz), both with a 1066 MT/s FSB, were released on July 27, 2006. Traditionally, CPUs of the same family with less cache simply have the unavailable cache disabled, since this allows parts that fail quality control to be sold at a lower rating

my friend gave me the galaxy 2 case when he bought his galaxy 3, but the mainboard is an mATX so there's lots of room lol, i'm also getting some new cathodes for my case tomorrow, i'll edit my post when i fit em
i would class my system as a wannabe beast, my Celeron can't do my 1GB Ram justice
Edit : I only just realised my camera caught my heatsink fan when it was moving so it looks still like some other dudes earlier on, lol cool ^_^

Intel make no mention of Allendale until E4300 release. It was noted that E4300 would be a 2MB chip without Vanderpool technology. E6300/E6400 are 4MB chip w/ 2MB disabled and w/ Vanderpool tech. They are clearly Conroe.

so is that why most of the C2Ds you see now only run a 2mb Cache?

Whilst I love that case and commend you on the hardwork I cant help but think it would be better if the CPU cooler vented to the rear of the case instead of using the warm air to heat that shiny metal and the hard-drives, PSU and more importantly the Ram below it. At the moment it looks as though any warm air generated by the PSU is then sucked directly onto the RAM. I had a very similar problem with a MSI K8N and an Akasa Evo-33 which used to blow straight down onto the back of the graphics card.
How about a 120mm fan mounted in the drivebays round about the position of the stickers to blow some extra air towards the rear

Yeah - that fan is blowing the hot air the Heatsink generates in the worst possible direction!!!
Heat wants to rise - but in that setup - the best course of action would definitely to point it to the back of the case. As pointing it up would direct the hot air over the graphics card

Is this directed at my setup? If so, I really can't change the direction of the HSF, DFI is the silly ones who decided to put the heatsink mounting clips on sideways. Every other setup I've done, the HSF has always blown towards the rear of the case. The HDDs and PSU are the least of my worries, the HDDs stay @ 30C or lower, even it heavy use. The PSU is also drawing cool air from the bottom. I keep all my fans @ 5V, and even so, the CPU core temp stays @ a cool 45C while @ 2.5GHz, 1.5Vcore. The videocard temperature is something i've learned to deal with. @5V it does get a little toasty on load, about 70C.

Yeah i understand dude, I still love your case. Some of the MSI boards are like that too, with the damn CPU mount the wrong way up. Still your cable management is first class and I admire the hardwork thats gone into shining it up. Thats one long SATA cable does it go behind the motherboard, down to the bottom, round and round then back up? You've done such a good job I can't even figure it out
