System Specs

If everything goes well....

I've been eyeing, and a few here KNOW that i've been planning... hell i've even purchased some stuff already

What i currently have:

Case - Not generic but i'm not happy with... will be replaced with a super modified one which will be sweet when completed (little cutting and air brushing and stenciling and more air brushing and whatnot.... mm goodness)

PCI 2.2 Hercules Digifire 7.1 Soundcard.... still a killer card

Currently X-Connect 500 watt (will be later exchange for a OCZ Powerstream, probably the newest when available...)

BenQ Dual Layer DVD 16x Burner

Socket 939 XP-90 (maybe pick up the XP-120 later after i figure out the exact board i have)

and various other addons like Lighting and fans and whatnot

~~~~What i have planned on order... still awaiting Product Availability, is...
AMD 64 Bit 3000+ 939 (which i have good plans for... OCing that brute)
Abit AX8 or similare (may wait just a little bit longer for VIA to finalize the KT890 which ATM, has PCI-EX and a few additionals, but via plans to extend it and bring out a KT890a or a revised kt890 with DDR2 support and SATA 300...)
Looking at the extremely high preformance OCZ memory, for sure 2gb (2x1024) best i can get.... depending on how well christmas goes, may end up picking up 4gb...
X800XT PCI-EX hopefully, if it ends up taking longer, and they happen to spit out the next revision soon, may end up picking one of those up...
and hardrives, Still deciding, I've thought 4 raptors would do, but i've been hearing nasty OC stories lately, may have to go maxtor....
(now these values are shooting extremely high)
What do you think over what i currently have?
Abit AT7-MAX2 KT400
AMD 1900+
1gb of PC2700 @ 133mhz Cass 2 (tight timings)
ATI 9000Pro AIW 64mb AGP
Onboard Realtek Sound (5.1)
2 Maxtor 40gb 2mb cache ATA133 in raid 0
1 maxtor 30gb 2mb cache ATA133 in JBOD
16x DVD ROM
350 watt Enermax Whisper PSU
Stock heatsink on everything
IF anyone thinks i should change something, please feel free to make a suggestion, i'm putting a good waud of cash into this so it'll take me for a ride for a good solid 2 years....
Sargentwhitey is on a distinguished road
Veery nice setup you've got there... I cant comment on the motherboard though... I've never really looked into any Abit's... and cant really say anything on the new chipset from VIA.. though I'm currently happily using a K8T800 Chipset
i think for you judas, as I know you fiddle with video and such, I'd honestly go for an LGA pentium 4 with an Abit AA8-DuraMAX board and some nice pc4200 DDR2....and honestly, I'm exceedingly pleased with my seagate 'cuda drives, and they were about 85 cents a gigabyte, if yer $$ becomes tight
.... i don't typically fool around with video..... however i the future i might considering building a DVD library of some VHS tapes and some TV series i've recorded...
ATM, i'm mostly do a little of everything, and ATM, the AMD platform is more tasteful, I was planning dual opterum, i might still, i've still a few deals being worked out..... may end up with a server, dual CPU.... Might even go Dual Xeon...
But remember, this dream may never happen depending on how RL goes.... car might blow up, Eyes might deside to hate me, teeth may fall out.... Lawsuit ..lol... doubt it... but i'm trying to keep prepared...
if you go dual chips, get the new EM64 Xeons with the 1MB cache and the 800MHz FSB...hands down
onyl downside to dual CPU, is as of yet there's no PCI-Ex16 support that I know of...but my guess is come next year we'll see it on Asus boards, and possibly Intel too (the asus pc-dl si do for an overhaul to support 800MHz fsb anyways )
