ei, see my specs below? *points to sig* im planning to OC my athlon..ive done it once..and i reached abt 1.8GHz..Windows XP boots, but when i start playing games, d PC stucks up..the temps are around 30C idle..
i also would like to OC my GPU core...but when i do, and start any 3D app, d screen freezes, but i can stl manage to quit d app w/o rebooting..i could OC my Video memory quite well..i jz dont know what's causing the problem when i OC my GPU core...

Are you sure you aren't pushing it too high? Take the video ram/gpu up in 2mhz steps, and even 1mhz once you find yourself nearing its limits. To test it out, run like 3dmark03 and look for white dots/static (gpu too high) or other visual artifacts (memory, usually). If you're crashing, lower your clocks down first thing..
I just replaced my xp2000. I couldn't get much of an OC from it myself to start with..And just because the system boots, doesn't mean things are going OK. Crashes are a sign bad things are amis. Are you locking your PCI/AGP clock? Get yourself prime95 and run a torture test (the default 'blend' method works ok, though the max heat option is the best IMO) for a few hours. Load up mbm5 and watch your temps too, assuming your onboard temps are remotely accurate (which some are or are not). If you see any errors in the prime95 window, shut down and lower your memory/cpu a bunch and try again..If there's no errors, go higher..I suspect you didn't do anything much for stability testing after you overclocked by the lack of any mention of such things..Also, I've never heard of a "Redfox" board offhand..If it is an extreme value line or something it is very possible the onboard sensor chip gives whacked readings.

i don't know how well that "RedFox" MoBo allows for overclocking. But if it's a decent board, then just simply start to increase the FSB in your BIOS. That's all you gotta do to OC your xp2000. But do what eggs420 said about running prime95 and a few other torture tests to check for stability.

unfortunatly the XP 2000-2200's are poor overclockers. Sorry.
that being said, you have a nice little OC there for yourself.

they are pretty decent imo. a friend of mine has a 2200+ with a asus a7n8x-e board, FSB @ 175, around 2100 GHz.

uhmm..RedFox is another name for the Biostar Group.. *i just aint sure if i put it ryt* another name for my mobo model would be Biostar M7NCD..
as for my recent overclock, Windows is running, as well as any other app..but as soon as i start stressing the CPU, and d temp reads about 45C, d PC crashes, and im forced to reboot..im using a TTake V9 HSF, and im using its sensor..so i know wen my CPU heats up coz the fan jz bcoms noisy when it does..
btw, im not OCing my CPU and GPU at the same tym..i jz OC them one at a time (im just kinda testing their limits)
as for my GPU, even if i just push it up 5MHz, then run a 3D game, it jz renders a few frames, about 3-5 seconds worth of frames, then locks the screen..but d game goes on, coz d sound aint looping..in fact, if i press the ryt buttons, i could get out of d app..the same thing happens to 3DMark..
sumone told me it could be my PSU..so, i'll try and buy a "non-generic" one..sumthing lyk enermax..
anyway, ill try that prime95 app.. tnx so far 2 u guys..

actually that sounds more like OC protection on your graphics card.

Try to replace 2000XP Palomio for 2000XP Thoroughbred-B. I have it and my CPU woks correctly at 2083MHz (2600XP indeed) I increase the FSB from 133 to 166MHz. I still use my stock cooler! Max teperature is 50 C

Yeah, those aren't the best overclockers
You reminded me of an old article which I managed to dig up. The guy was overclocking AthlonXP 2100. He said it belonged to AROIA series, I think that's another name for Palomino. He only got it as high as 2066MHz, and he was using Peltier! Before that, with "only" water cooling, he couldn't get it above 1800MHz.
EDIT: Hey, this is one old thread...
