My x800Pro>XT PE Mod went great ! a free 1000 3Dmarks gained

Me is happy,

Yesterday evening i finally decided to try my luck to void my warranty. After some annoyances like needing to hook up a floppy drive, i first removed all ati drivers, backed up my old bios and flashed the x800pro with the gigabyte bios that unlocks the 4 additional pipelines and then reflashed with the original ati x800xt pe bios.

after booting windows and installing the new ati beta driver i ran 3dmark01 and 03 (was to tired to try 05 as well and i have no reference with 05 cause i never ran it yet) My scores went up with a 1000marks on 03 and 1200marks on 01. this is in relation to a heavily o'clocked x800pro and the xt now is running at default. temps are great as well, after running the 3marks it lists max 43 on vpu and 48 on ram, well within the safe zone. I and atitool coudn't find a single artifact and it still has o'clocking headroom.

lookin to pricewatch i now saved myself around 120 euro's but my warranty is gone now, a fair trade off imo.

here are my 1st benchmark results:
3DMark01: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=8151654
3DMark03: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=3191579

very nice...and who cares about a warranty anyways

only time i ever send stuff back is if it's DOA...i've NEVER had anythign crap out before i could honestly say it's time had come (athlon xp 1800+ finally died after 4 years on a 250MHz OC...stock cooling, seagate harddrive died from that rig to, after getting rung through the wash as i shot about 25 gigs thr0ough that poor thing a week and defragged daily...the 8500 128MB lives on tho )

here's the 05 result, still on default settings.

3DMark05: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=58211

and idd dw, i specially selected the card personnally from a batch with the intention to mod it, and now it really works, it feels.... well just very satifactory i think
even before i opened atitool after the flash windows just feelt quicker, as if the screen was updated quicker, and then the confirmation from atitool made it complete.

now to wait a few days to check stability and so and then i'll start to o'clock

Do the fan tweak trick, it helps with the OCing.

I had to RMA the first X800 pro VIVO I got, it didn't load up the WMD drivers when I installed it....I think they sent me someone elses return. :?

T'is alright though, I got a new one no problem and once I made sure it was the right one I went ahead with the flash and I'm feeling good and stepping large.

It really is a great feeling when it all comes together, and now I just can't wait for HL2.
