Overdrive initiates a 'safe' overclock to the video card but if you're not satisfied just disable it and then overclock your video card manually. Overdrive in some cases doesn't push the video card hard at all due to the thermal temps within the case and specifically the temp sensor on the video card. Some people will get better results with OD than others.

your running hot then

normal over drive is + 1 X the referance clock, wich is useally 27mhz
it auto clocks it self down according to the reported temprature of your card

I don’t think it has anything to do with temperature at all. First at a 6MHz OC the pointer is all the way over to max redline. Second I have dropped my card temps from 47/76 to 33/64 and overdrive is still 6MHz tops; I've tested this on three XTPE's with and without additional fans blowing on the cards. All reviews also only show 6MHz OCs with overdrive.
Get a free OC tool and do it the right way
