"Sunset", my newest project
well most of you know my last system, "The Mystic Rig", for those of you who dont follow this link (also in my sig) http://www.zardon.net/system/
My new project "Sunset" came into fruitation due to a new concept which has been increasingly irritating me at night.... "noise". So my main priorities were to select good performing components with the slant on trying to keep the noise down.
My thanks goes to my friend and hardware guru, manager of Computastore in Northern Ireland, John, who is always there for advice and much more
Ok my setup this time revolves around the following components.
Athlon XP 2100+ CPU
MSI KT3 Ultra 2 Raid Motherboard
AKASA Silver Mountain 2
Kingmax DDR333 256 meg boards x 3
Western Digital 120 gig JB SE 8 meg cache HD
Western Digital 80 gig JB SE 8 meg cache HD
ATI Radeon 9700 350 core/340 ram
LITEON 48x CD Writer
LITEON 20x CD Writer (for multiple copies VIA Nero)
LITEON DVD PLAYER
LIAN Aluminium Case with window modification
and some nice red lighting
some piccies

at the minute im not overclocking the CPU much as the AKASA isnt a hard core overclockers tool like my delta but is a much quieter fan, so im running the 2100 at 1.75 core at a steady 1.76 ghz ... someday if I fancy some OClocking I might add my swiftech in with the delta and get her to 1.9+ghz again.
The red lighting looks much more effective without the flash hitting it on my digital camera, but ah well you get the idea.....
but she is running sweet, getting over 13k in 3dmark with pcmark benchies of 5100 CPU, 4200 mem and 1200 HD, and more importantly all my games are running well, and im going to be able to leave files downloading in this room without the need for earmuffs......

Very sweet indeed. You could probably float that case on the airflow from your previous army of 120mm fans

Very sweet indeed, Z'. Anything that hits 13K in 3DMark is fine by this fox. But, I'd have to say, I think that system only seems quiet because your previous system was so loud.

Very nice indeed! Old system surplus to requirements?
By the way you'll never be able to fry an egg with those temps!

PC alert 4 (you can see it top left of the panel), bundled with the motherboard, along with about 40 others. ill give MSI something, they certainly supply a hell of a lot of utilities with their mobos.. they have a utility called "cooler XP", and it drops temps by about 6 C.......
also of note is the MSI live update (2), which scans their website for bios and application/utility updates and informs you of new versions. There was already an update for the bios (which ive flashed) to allow 2400 and 2600+ XPs which is good cause ive a 2600 ordered

well I think its quite pretty looking, if you class an aluminium Lian case with lighting and a sweet mobo and some pretty fast HDs with a 9700 (almost all entirely silent) - as "ordinary" thats your choice its not intended to be a hardcore modded case just a little pastime project..... from my other http://www.zardon.net/system MUCH louder rig.
something else I meant to say to you before in another thread, for such a nice overclocked system as yours appears to be I really think you might want to look into upgrading your CPU, im sure its holding you way back, if you are on a budget ... get a nice Rev B 2200 or so you should easily hit 2.3 gig....
have you any pictures of your watercooling rig? start a thread with your mods etc, id like to see them and all the members can comment then as well which is cool, (sometimes its better to post your own creativity)

The black mystic rig, that was a very sweet rig.... it might be cause i favor black but it looked cool.
As for the Lian Li case i just looked for sweet mods and only found a red CC, didnt look at the matching hardware and all that sorry, but if you look at it like that then it is a sweet rig also (the black one is still sweeter and the lian li more ordinary for me)
Im waiting for the 2400+ to come out in stores in Sweden then im upgrading to that one cause i heard it was a great overclocker. Or i might get a 1600+ but im not sure yet.
I dont have any pics of my own rig but maybe i can borrow a digicam somewhere, but it isnt hardly modded yet. It is a black Cheiftec Dragon Midi tower (had one the same but full tower but it was so big so i bought a midi) with a small hole in the roof where the tanktop sticks out so i can fill it up there. The watercooling system concists of
Black Ice Extreme
DD Maze 3 1/2"
Eheim 1250
1/2" silicone tubing
DD clear reservoir
The radiator have a 120mm silent fan @5V blowing through it and it does the job good.
I'm fixing up the look of the interior when i get a window kit and some cold cathods in the near future.
