Pushing it...?

Hi, I'm new to overclocking and I have a question.
I have a Pentium4 1.7GHz, 512 M RDRAM in a ABIT TH7-II Raid MoBo. I know the P4 is multiplyer locked so without resorting to hardware mods all I can do is alter the FSB.
My question is this: Currently my FSB is 400/100, if I alter it to 470/118 will I do any damage or stress the components too much?
My current CPU temp is 42Deg. I do have two additional chassis fans circulating too.

Just go up slowly untill you start running into trouble. Lockups or random reboots are a sign that you have gone too far. Good luck

Wallace, what most people don't recognize is that overclocking pretty much will always stress the components to the point where it will cut their lifespan. But --and here's the thing-- nobody really should care. Who cares if you, say, HALF the life of a processor that could last for 10 years? You're going to keep that P4 for five years?

Don't worry about it. My only concern would be with the AGP speed. If you can, set the divider to 1/2 instead of the usual 2/3. If your computer doesn't lock up or act erratically, you're fine. ... damn, I just realized that I'm replying to a post that's one month old.

The Pentium 4 chipset can be pushed to 133FBS and still be extremly stable.. Mines at 133FSB with the core volage at 1.7 for almost a year and no problems yet.

Don't listen to that "Kelsen..." guy. He has a northwood P4, and a juicily overclockable 1.6A at that...those things are ripe for overclocking, but an old willemette P4 (much like mine, except probably in socket 423, dunno!) won't like things as high as 133mhz...that's a clock speed of 2261mhz mind you...WAY too high for a Willy.
