Someone has to know?!?!?!?!?
well, I've got a new system.....I'm new to OC'ing but I've done enouhgh research to understand the basics and I'll be able to keep up.....
Here's my system specs..... what would you suggest I do to reap the most benefit from a decent system???
SiS661FX MoBo (according to my friend its gigabyte), Intel P4 @2.53Ghz,512K 533FSB, PC2700 256MB DDR, integrated video 661FX, integrated 10/100 Network RealtekRTL8201BL, integrated audio RealtekALC650, 300watt power supply WINXP, Award BiOS....
I'm not sure of the rest.....I also know it has AGP 8x and some Gigabyte components......
its virgin other than the videocard.....I used powerstrip to OC a little only by 7-10 Mhz engine and clock
I have had a few problems w the video adapter.......crashing and then not allowing a new one to be installed.. I'm choked.......$1450.00 w 15'LCD I paid.................wont even run half the games I want to play.......help!!!!

Man, i think you've paid so much for an outdated system, i mean, where do you go with only 256 mb of RAM ,an integrated VGA and a 300 Wat PSU??? I don't think you can play most of the new games even with the most agressive overclocking. If i were you i'd inmediatly recover my money and ask some of the wise guys here about a system recommendation based on the money you want to spend..just my oppinion
BTW welcome to DH!

bit of the sad truth is said there by wertret.... although i'm not sure you didn't get a good deal in a way....
first of.... did you say something about video adapter not being able to install into the board?.. if yes... after installing... you have to completely disable (recommended) the onboard intergrated video.... or else you end up with errors/conflicts.... whatnot....
Also... 300watt PSU may be to little for ocing/upgrading..... specially if you plan on getting an ATI 9600XT .... depends on the brand of the psu as well... generics will usually guarantee problems....
