"Yea i need to get off my ass and go take my A+ testing"
I was just talking to my younger brother who works at a very large insurance agency programming mainframes, and my older brother who works for a clinical trials company, about getting my A+ certification.
My younger bro said he could hook me up w/ a job making 35g to 40g/ year to start working for his company- Not great, but unfortunately it's more than I'm making now..
He said there's a lot of PC history involved in the test, but after talking to him about it he thinks I could pass it without taking classes, just maybe reviewing and taking some practice tests... Actually I know 100x more about PC's than both of them put together because they really don't need to know much about PC's for their jobs. I never really thought of getting any certification before, but I think it may be worth it now.
They say if you do something you enjoy doing for your job you'll never have to work again.. If you like working on PC's and stuff like that, it seems like getting certified for hardware would be the thing to do, especially if you already have a good head start by messing around with PC's your whole life- you've already done most of the work.
A couple years ago I was thinking about going to school to get an MCSE, but after talking to some friends that have one, and looking at the books they needed to read to pass the test, it didn't seem right for me-
I think I could do it, but I don't think I would like the jobs that an MCSE would go for.. I'm more of a hands-on hardware type that likes the mechanical aspect of a job too- not all software and networking troubleshooting..
Let me know what happens with your training and testing if you go through with it, or if you think you're going to just take the test or go for classes.. Either way, good luck!

After that you'll probably be able to pass the A+ test no problem- but I'm not sure, I'm just starting to research it- but it sounds like you won't have a problem.

Oh that's cool, you'll probably make allot more money in that field anyway- but if you already have the knowledge in your head, being A+ certified is a nice thing to have on your resume.
