Distilled water available
I've gotta share this with all you watercooling people out there, the only thing is it's so embarrassing.....
because my wife sussed it out for me.
Whilst ringing around the local area looking for distilled water NOT de-ionised. My wife got up and vanished through into the kitchen. When she reappeared about 5 minutes later she had a litre bottle of water in her hands....from the condensing tumble drier...DOH
So all you people can get it for free with every load of washing you dry!
Just boil it and chill it down in the fridge or freezer to kill any bugs and the perfumy smell.

We got a Brita filter for the fridge. Totally filters the water. We use it to boil water in our glass kettle. It stops the build up of lime scale you see. So you could boil the filtered water a couple of times and then filter it again. Would be very clean indeed.

completely removing all minerals would lower the heat transfer rate...... like removeing the thermal adheasive from your cpu and heatsink....

boiled water ...although gets alot of the bacteria out... the minerals tend to stay.. mostly the heavier ones.... boiled water isn't distilled water.... distilled water is completely pure H2O pretty well....

tiss.... i've known of it.... that's what i find funny.. all these companies bringing out bottled water that's completely mineral free..... and yet... they don't seem to quench my thirst....
As you'll notice.. it says boiled... evaporated. and then condensed...... *boil the water.... let it evaporate... then condense the evaporated stuff into another pot and use that.. not the boiled stuff... as the boiled stuff will most likely have a higher consentration of minerals*

Copper - apparently is only badly affected by alkaline conditions also the use of water wetter with the distilled water ensures long term stability and enhances heat transference.
The use of boiled water can cause furing of the water blocks if you're in a hard water area.
The brita water filters are kinda like de ionisers, I think they swap out ions like reverse osmosis units. I've also been offered "purified water" from chemist but I'm not sure what this is exactly.
If I remember correctly the thermal energy is carried by the H2O molecules without the assistance of dissolved mineral content and thermal transfer enhancement of water is usually just by lowering the surface tension - voila water wetter.
Water wetter is basically just a non slippy detergent additive with biocides which will not cause problems when performance engines loose the contents of their cooling systems all over the drag strip.
Oh and Coca Cola have just withdrawn all their new purified bottled water (hehehehe) due to a health scare.
I just love it when big multinationals screw up royally.

That site is full of it. Your body cannot digest the minerals that are found in the ground. Your body cannot digest metal such as iron, copper and other things that it picks up from the miles of iron, copper, and other types of materials used to get the water to your house. I highly doubt that coke or any other company uses distilled water as it is an expensive and time consuming process. For more on this subject (inorganic vs. organic minerals will help)
http://www.marysherbs.com/Miscellaneous/organic.htm
I drink distilled water. My distiller is made from stainless steel. My water is 99.999% pure and I am glad I drink it. I get the vitamins and minerals from the food that I eat. Distillled water is exactly the way nature intended it. Our own ecosystem creates distilled water (it's known as rain) Although by the time the water hits the ground it is not pure anymore.
One last note. The reason that distilled water is recommended is because it does not contuct electricity. So if you had a pipe break... you will be able use your equipment. That is the reason that it is recommended to use it.

I beg too differ on the de ionized water being better... maybe it is better for your computer, but not your body.....
Last bit of 'food for thought' : The only water that is used in an IV (medical) is Distilled water and of course they combine it to make a saline solution.

i have almost pure water straight from the taps where i am, according to my chemistry teacher it is the cleanest tap water in the world - 37ppm (37 ions per million water molecules) that is almost purer than you will get by distillation

Well on a side note... you can get 1 gal of distilled water for about .25c My distiller broke one time and I picked up 9 gal at the local supermarket for about $2.00 +tax....
I would not base my information about how distilled water is for you from that site... If they think that the "inorganic minerals" calcium and magnesium are good for you they need to go back to school... red peppers contain magnesium.... (organic) and spinach is high in calcium (organic) heh just some more knowledge....
Anyways... try this test and tell me what you would rather drink... put a drop of distilled water and a drop of tap water on a mirror... when they dry you will see a nice dark spot left by tap and nothing left by distilled.....
My friend also used to run a water store... ya know the place you can pick up the big 5 gal jugs of water... they would let you borrow a 1gal distiller for 2 weeks and tell you not to drain the boiling chamber for 2 weeks... when you bring the distiller back at the end they drain the bottom 1/4 gal into a jar and let you look at it... they then are like... ok well you have been missing all this good stuff the last 2 weeks, drink up! (the water looks like pee with black and other colored solids floating in it.... the chamber is stainless... so its no trick.... ) so after that I have a distiller!!!!
P.S. The last time I checked the chemical forumla for water is H2O and if you add flouride and chlorine and you get H20 + H2SiF6 + Cl
P.S.S. RO (reverse osmosis or de-ionization ) is good... but a membrane is pretty close to the same thing as a filter and cannot remove all bacteria and inorganic materials... so some stuff makes it through...
P.S.S.S My last 2c on this really!

Here ins the city.. i can't drink the water here... it's terrible.. (the tab water is garbage).....
However... getting water straight from a lake... is excellent... that lake water is full of stuff.... dead animals... logs... things from the moutain... but the stuff is GOOD for you..... putting it through a distiller ends up with the same mess.... sure.. it's disgusting looking.... and would probably kill you in you drank the glass down in one go.... anything and everything will kill you if you have to much of it.... common sence..... Working on a farm.... manual Labor.. | |
