Whats The Best P4 478 Overclocking Board?

Looking to buy a new board to go with my p4 a 2ghz. Whats your views or what you have heard.

I haven't overclocked with it yet, no reason to. However, I heard it is a very good board for it.

Overclocking is the last thing I look for in a mobo.

1) Reliability - very important
2) 5 PCI slots (I need em all)
3) IDE RAID (yup - I like this loads)
4) x4 USB ports (yup - need these too)
5) Floppy connector - I think these may be phased out soon but I really need my floppy! (ooooerr missus)
6) Overclocking features

really i would wait for 2 weeks..many new motherboards will be out..including the PX400 and soon in september the 845PE

Janusz is right, wait a little bit. New technologies are right around the corner as always, but the stuff coming out soon is going to be setting a lot of new standards. AGP 3.0 with 8x support is one example, while most cards don't need 4x, you might just want to wait it out and get some newer technology that will be a better investment in the long run. DDR400 is also an important new feature if you want to overclock.

But in the end the decision is about what you want, don't just listen to us, most of us here are running newer boards anyway

The new VIA chipset looks great, Never heard of the intel 845PE. But, Waiting for them, does not mean there going to be great for over clocking for a long time. But i could be Wrong

i agree with skastel and janusz, wait fir the new technology, dont wanna buy a board then come to find out its outdated the minute you buy it, now anytime your purchase a computer part it will be outdated but you want to find a medium, so with these techs rightarount the corner like ddr400 and agp 8x (with i might add isnt that much of a performance increase, the agp 8x that is) still its nice to try to stay up to date.

Also i recommend Asus as well, they make great boards ie; reliability, expandability, and great jumperless oc features to boot.

am not too crazy about VIA, i've heard horror storries with those chipsets, although am sure there getting better still i would stay away but maybe its because im an intel junkie. I have 3 systems and the best one is my intel based one (as far as stability goes)

VIA are getting better. When i was using AMD systems alot latley i had no problems. Well after i dated the bios and drivers that is. Oh yeah never buy a oem board with a VIA chip set on. No support
